Matt went to Walmart and bought steaks; two sirloin, two fillet mignon, three NY Strips, and a tomahawk, all totaled came in at $90. He fixed dinner and we got our steak fix. He made the creamed spinach which was fantastic.

Nice. Does Matt have a trick for making Walmart steaks taste good? Or is it good quality? I don’t shop at Walmart usually.
I dunno? These were Angus choice steaks, were tender, and tasted great. He dusted with a bit of garlic and onion powder then pan fried. His first job in New York City was a line cook at Tribeca Grill cooking steaks. He worked into being a sous chef and transferred to Harbor View Hotel (Jaws fame) in Edgartown as sous chef.

Anyway, beef out west is generally excellent.

Today’s Father’s Day steaks were three ribeye from Costco, two Omaha fillet mignon’s, and a Costco strip loin. They were all good but disappointed Costco took the cap off the ribeye to repackage in that circular thing they do now. It won’t happen again.

I grilled a reduced price ribeye last night and did a small fillet mignon for Nancy. Hers didn’t taste good and will not buy that brand again. It was pre packaged grass fed. Mine was good but could tell it was an odd cut. End piece , maybe?
