Easter Cheese

Luvs, will you please post a recipe you have for this?

I had to search it, as I've never heard of it either.

Cirak is a traditional Slovak Easter "cheese". One is to slice and eat the "cheese" at midnight Easter day.

It is traditionally served with baked ham and beet horseradish and is great on sandwiches. It is very mild in flavor and not like other cheeses.

i've got to look thru my old cookbooks-- i've several of those ones where you submit recipes to your church, etcetera that i got when via my Gram & Pap-- i'm thinking it's eggs, sugar {I'm not sure on that one}, & a few other items that you cook & drain in pantyhose bags or cheesecloth--

there are recipes with and without sugar . . .
only had it at Ukrainian festivities - never made it myself - but the recipe reads like a super heavy custard - lots of eggs . . . curiously there nothing to 'curdle' the milk
 
Now I'm intrigued!

Pretty sure my double boiler won't be big enough to hold that full recipe, so I'll cut it in half and try a small ball of cheese.
