Where's the love???

Oh I feel for you as my birthday came and went with not a single notice. So you are gone for a few days, I've been busy myself. :dizzy:

Well, happy birthday to you!!!!!!!!!!

And Silver Sage, girl...you gotta ask for the love sometimes!!:heart::heart:

We stayed at The Inn at the Shore in Belmar. When we walked into our room this lovely jacuzzi was right there...

Later that night we had dinner at Ragin Cajun, a BYOB in Belmar

Roasted Garlic is served instead of butter :thumb:

(hair was all pulled back in braids..too hot for anything else)

First course was alligator sausage with a mustard-y remoulade and New Orleans Barbecued Shrimp

Did you notice the vintage drink menu place mats?? Haven't seen them in a dozen years (remember the pink lady?)

Dinner was Snapper Creole and Seafood Jambalaya

We didn't have dessert...went to Point Pleasant after that for a walk on the boardwalk and beach and ice cream cones!

The next morning, with a 5:00am alarm, we were on the boardwalk with our bikes and coffee waiting for the sunrise.

After that, we rode our bikes to Asbury Park, and back, we stopped along the Shark River, where all the rich muckety mucks dock their private boats on a nice private street with private horse shoes and swings...they even have their own private anchor. But I showed them...I laid all over their anchor

And then, Lou Bag 0 Donuts....

We were back on the beach at 9am...and didn't get home till 7pm. No time for any Iron Chef submission, unfortunately.

So, that's what we were doing. And booze..lots and lots of booze.

SilverSage....everyone from New Jersey and Philadelphia goes 'down the shore'....we never go to the beach. We go down the shore. And, it's always the jersey shore. In our opinions, there is no other shore....just a bunch of beaches that can't hold a candle to the shore:in_love::in_love::in_love:

We were in Belmar, also known as exit 98 on the Garden State Parkway. That's another thing we do...when we want people to know where some place is, we give Garden State Parkway exit numbers as reference points. If it helps, Cape May is exit 2, Atlantic City is 25.

Great pics Vera. :thumb: Food looks scrumptious and the beach, you and lou all are beautiful. Karma on the way. edit to add: Opps, I meant lou is handsome. :bonk:

And thanks to all of you for spreading the LOVE!!:kiss::kiss:

And now, I'm really concentrating the very up and coming trip back to New Orleans!!

Great pics! Those shrimp were massive. The only thing bigger were Lou's calves! That man has some serious gams!!! Is he a runner? :thumb:

Great photos, Vera! That first shot of you in the room is excellent! Looks like you and Lou had a wonderful weekend!

My love affair with the Jersey shore began when I was 10, when my father drove my brother and me to visit our Aunt Alice for a week in her rented cottage in Lavallette. We did that every year for about 8 summers, and absolutely LOVED it!! You are right about that beach! And those waves!

But I haven't been back since I was 18. Returning to Lavallete for a vacation is on my Bucket List.

He played baseball when he was younger , also ice hockey..and now rides a couple times a week...usually 24 miles each time.

I go away for a few days for sun, booze and sin...and no one sent out a search party for me?? I don't put up an iron chef submission and no one notices?????????????????????????????

Do any of you have any idea what happens to those who give me pause??? Why do you think my flower beds do so well...?? Hmm...?? what do you think I use for fertilizer??

I have great sunrise pictures from down the shore..and a few good looking plates from the cajun joint we ate at.. There's even a picture of me in the jacuzzi in our hotel room. Don't you want to see those pictures???
It's not enough that I had to get 5 phone calls from Marianne..where's the love my friends???

i bet you had a nice long soak in the Jacuzzi also!! beautiful pics!! we took the girls down the shore to the heights last monday. to cold for the water but we had fun at the carasrl arcade and walking the boardwalk at 7AM. no one really around, sat listened to the gulls, wind, waves and the mild chatter. taking in the sights and sounds as the girls checked out the shops and WANTED EVERYTHING!! LOL

an ice hockey player from philly?

vb, if lou and i start grappling, pulling each others' sweaters over our heads and trying to get the other one to the ground, don't worry. it's just a friendly greeting...

great pics, btw. good to see you, as always. hopefully soon in person.

i'll be down the shore next week, probably for a day at point pleasent, and another at i.b.s.p..

i have a serious need to get sunburned, sandy, and do some boogie boarding.

:bangin: We here at the shore say "going to the beach" lmao. The dead giveaway that someone is not from Eastern Monmouth or Norther Ocean county is when they say "down the shore".

I know exactly where that anchor is. How did you like Asbury? I haven't been there in a while. Great burgers at the Wonderbar. Those entrees look excellent, did they taste as good as they look?

You've probobly been to the beach more this year than I have in the past 5 years. lol

Vera, in my defense, I've been so preoccupied with Docs music forum,(Net Music talk) I have been neglecting everything else - shaving, eating and my friends-but you know your the one I spend tortured nights dreaming about!!

We've been doing the ride from Belmar to Asbury Park for the past three years. It's interesting to watch the renovations and improvements to the boardwalk. The boardwalk has lots of new shops, a few good looking restaurants and a very inviting kiddie water playground. (Lou desperately wanted to play in it a couple of weeks ago, but there was just one little kid playing in it and he feared he'd look tooooo creepy trying to play in the same park) There used to be a great tiny farmer's market on the boardwalk, inside the pavillion but it's gone this year. It's undergoing renovations so I guess that's why it's gone. When you leave the boardwalk, however...the entire town is suffering. It looks like Atlantic city if you go more than 3 blocks from the boardwalk. It's clear they are trying to regain some prestige and possibly gather some of the available shore income from visitors. Just fixing the boardwalk and adding great restaurants isn't going to do it. The entire down has been slipping down for 30 years.

And yes, the food in the pictures was wonderful. Ice cream cones on the boardwalk in Point Pleasant were the perfect dessert.

I read on their site that the "master plan" was in place, I guess it just takes alot longer than you think. I used to go there when I was a kid. I was lucky enough to have ridden the carousel and experience Palace Amusements before it all turned to...well, you know. The new renovations have alot of resemblance to old Asbury but modernized with alot of residential buildings.

Here's a PDF. http://oceanfrontasbury.com/download/redevelopment_map.pdf

Right now, there are no games of chance or amusement rides...and that's sad. It would give Point Pleasant and Seaside a run for their money. And, you cannot really even count Point Pleasant..all they have is kiddie rides.

My husband and I went to Wildwood for our first anniversary. We were young and hadn't really saved any money for a vacation...it was just a long weekend.
A few years later, we started going every summer with our kids. We did that for 5 years. Watch the Tram Car, Please...
A few years ago I went back with my daughter for a long weekend. I didn't remember the beach being 2 miles from boardwalk to water... Wildwood has the most extensive boardwalk I've ever seen. I'm partial to the one in Ocean City (even though it's a bunch of quakers in a dry town)

Ohh I LOVE wildwood... went every summer for a week as a kid

Keep trying to get there this summer... buddy wants to go next saturday but I dont think I can make it. Too much shit to do here.

Ocean City is better for young families but I like the rowdyness of wwood better. mmm funnel cake rollercoasters and frozen custard... I really wanna take a sick day!
