Whats on your plate 8/30/10?

Peep you steal the show those clams are lovely

Panch played with fire tonight... leftover seafood & eggs

Had to figure out what to do with the leftover Linguini & Mussels. Not really a dish that will reheat well especially since it was made with fresh pasta. Decided to break the seafood and cheese rule and use up my eggs to make a casserole

Turned out good the pasta egg cheese mix was light and had a really nice texture and the mussels gave a great seafood taste but not too strong. Hopefully it does not kill me LOL!

Thank you Pancho!! I love your plate!!

Its Waechtersbach... unfortunately from a whole set I am down to one place setting LOL! they are cool with great deep colors but break VERY easily and I am a terror on all breakables... which is why all plates and such come from thrift stores, dollar stores or flea markets... they were a good find but alas did not survive. Waechtersbach makes bowls I especially like that come in a bunch of sizes and look like this

I am bad with breaking and chipping also. The plates I have been using lately are 1 dollar each at the dollar store.

nice clams, peeps, and chicken, sass! :chef:

and i agree about the melon and seasonal changes, karen. foods that are forced aren't as good as the natural thing in their time. same goes for corn, tomatoes, peas, and so on. it's nice to have the year 'round convenience, though.

panch, it looks to me like you made a seafood pasta frittata. yum, nice job.

i used to believe in that no fish/seafood with chesse dealio, but i've found lots of recipes that combine them both successfully. the first ones that comes to mind are linguini with clam sauce, and seafood enchiladas veracruz.
i guess it's just not all cheeses and fishes are made for each other.

i made juicy lucys tonight for dinner for my boy and i using garlic and herb boursin, and a plain buffalo burger for dw.
dw made baked steak fries, and we all gnawed on raw green bell peppers and tomatoes from the garden as the veg.

my son wanted to help out, so i let him make his own juicy lucy. he invented the "volcano burger". he shaped the ground beef it like a pyramid, and stuffed it with boursin. i browned it on it's 5 sides in a grill pan, and it "erupted" when he bit off the top point.
lol, it was actually pretty cool.

I always though the no fish w cheese thing came out of americans desire to douse all pasta dishes with parm even ones that traditionally are not but I am not sure the actual origin of that thoght

shrimp quessadillas & smoked salmon w/goat cheese are among my favorites.

The only culinary orthodoxy I really believe in is that chicken sushi is a no no.

Great dinners, those clams are spectacular! I'm not even hungry and I want some of those! lol

Our power was out and I was out of propane and charchoal so I cooked everything on the firepit using my little camping grill. I could have used the gas stove but I didn't feel like heating the kitchen up.

I made grilled hot sausage, store-made links that can stand up to any butcher shop. Fried plantains, roasted corn on the cob and roasted potatoes. The corn and potatoes were wrapped in foil and placed on the coals.

Thank you so much for the kind compliments Bucky, Cheese and Cooksie. My family have ordered more clams - they want a dozen each!! LOL

lol peeps.

on my recent vacation, we ate out several times. the first night out, we only ordered a dozen as an appy. they were gone before you could blink.

we ordered a dozen each on subsequent nights out, and 36 of the little suckers still didn't seem to be enough.

at $30+ just for the appy's for three, i didn't want to look at the bill.
