What's on the menu tonight, 02/04/09?

I notice a lot of folks eating mashed potaotes with steak. I've always been a baked potato guy, but I love mashed postatoes and might want to give this a try.

I'm with you chowhound, I always bake potatoes to eat with steak. I love me some mashed potatoes and gravy with my chicken fried steak though!!!

Oh yeah, Rob! I've been meaning to stock up on cubed steaks next time I make it to the store. I'm getting a good handle on chicken fried steaks.
And all this talk of mashed taters has me taking out 3 chops and setting them on my aluminum thawing plate so I can have fried chops, mashed taters and gravy tonight. Maybe I'll stick them in a ziplock and run them under water to hurry them along. Now that I know (lol)

yes and yes... but i was working in texas for awhile and got into baked sweet pototoes with my steaks... yummy

Baked sweet potatoes works just as well for me as the standard spuds. I kind of mix them up.

I ended up having wings and some home made hot sauce that was perfect before I made it into a salad dressing. I had some pickled jalapenos, pickled garlic and some bread from a local baker. Good finger food. Night all. :chef:

i think a baked pork chop, using dixie fry , a vegetable, have a big choice, got groceries. baked potato. one tiny piece of lemon pound cake left.

I got in my tater fix.
A little OJ to deglaze the pan plus some chicken stock made a nice gravy. My only regret is I didn't have any corn.... Or leftovers :pig:

Well, our dinner was a little peculiar, but very tasty. I bought some fresh, homemade chorizo from a street vendor this afternoon (I know, I know...we are risk-takers). Removed the casings, cooked it a bit, added it to some fried potatoes and onions, then cooked some fresh green beans to go with. It was awesome. There are SO many kinds of chorizo here and they are ALL good.

Well its use up the existing supplies right now... looked at the acct balance and:cry: so time to be thrifty and use up all the bits an pieces of meals and raw ingredients that are kicking around....and still be gourmet of course:mrgreen:

Tonight turned out to be some pork chops and sausage that had been braised in a tomato sauce over Arborio rice made with a mire-poix and chicken stock and topped with some reggiano and roamano... turned out pretty good.
