What's cooking, Tuesday July 21, 2009?

yup, i remember joy hing. i lived in river edge, right up the street from huffmann koos many moons ago.

is that little, cheapo italian place still there? aldi's?

what about hong hing in emerson - or is that westwood? ever go?

i wonder if it's still there, now that the hospital is closed.

hey, you NEED to go to the iron horse in westwood. great food, great prices.

nice pizzas last night. joe- nice job as usual.

but fish-man - way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:a1:

newy, nice looking pasta.

and peep, my wife would kill for one of those stuffed peppers.

we ended up with japanese last night. our usual: salads, veggie gyoza, chicken teryaki for my boy, sashimi and a godzilla roll for dw, and the sushi special deluxe and a salmon skin hand roll for me.

peep, have you ever tried the sushi at maguro in rochelle park? it's a take-out only, but it's really good stuff.

Thanks Bucky...it was delicious. I actually have left-overs, and I might eat 'em for breakfast (seeing as how I'm STILL awake from yesterday). DH & BIL are still asleep...You snooze, you lose!

my family mom, aunts, uncle's, cousins, great aunts and great uncle grew up in emerson!! my grandpa raised bees there and sold honey to oradell farms way back when. i used to crawl under rez fence and climb trees and hike down there behind the golf course. even peed my pants one time down on the water company property cause i didn't know the emerson cops shotting range was down there and thought i was gona die!! you never seen a teen age girl jump outta a tree, tight wire walk across a water pipe and nav igate those long sopikes meant to keep you FROM crossing the pie and climb UP the fence and over the barbed wire WITH peed in (i am serious) shorts falling down so fast!! mom just laughed her butt off when i told her!!

ok back to your question NO i have never been to either in emerson or westwood? but i have been to that little hole in the wall by the RR tracks in emerson something INN maybe tiny place? food sucked!!

how about the Lido? main and johnson in hack.? the BEST thin crust pizza and the cattleman's steak ahhhhhhhhhhhh yummy!!

gimme info on iron horse in westwood and i will give it a try. are you sure it's westwood?

hmmm, no, but dw used to work in fairfield. i ask if she's been there and/or wants to go. thanks. :flowers:

the 2 forums i admin have 911 roots one is a social forum and the other is a Tribute site where we upload the pics and stats of soldiers and other victims of war and terrorism, where you can go and light a tribute candle for the victims and post a condolence or comment for the family of the victims.

My HS GF's DH was in the very office the first plane hit. And then there's the fact that two of the four planes belonged to the company I worked for.....

oops, sorry. got it. will check it out.

and double oops. yup, it was the lido. you're right: great thin crust pizzas. never had the steak.

and yeah, the emerson inn sucked. probably still does. they were the first and only white table cloth restaurant around, so they rode that status into the ground while the food stunk.

oh, the iron horse is right across from the gazebo park in the dead center of westwood, next to the railroad tracks. across from mount everest ski shop. http://www.theironhorse.com/

i was crucified in that park years ago, literally! i used to play jesus in the living stations of the cross every year on good friday. man, it was cold. it was hard to pretend to be dead while freezing your nuts off up on a cross, wearing nothing but a loincloth in the early spring. there were over a thousand that showed up each year to watch me die.

and they weren't even from atlanta!

awwwwwwwwwwwwwww so sorry!! friends of mine were on the roof of the teamsters local 560 in union city, NJ and watched the second go around and line up for the hit. all these tough as nails teamsters standing there crying like babies. it makes the heart hurt!! we watched the smoke rising to the sky from my yard for what seemed years till it finally burned itself out!! heartbreaking. i can see the 2 blue lights in the sky from my house when they light them in memory of 911.

ROTFLMFAO!! no nuts jesus!! did anyone look up your loin clothe? that is to damn funny!! i am not to familar with westwood as emerson, closter and harrington park (my uncle was a cop in har pk for 20 odd years (btw he was known all the way to teaneck and hackensack as the hard ass! i could never tell friends he was my uncle cause they would think i was a narc and kick my everloving!! LOL) but he got an award for going into the closter inn several times while it was burning to pull people out).

I was at my daughter's in Minneapolis watching the entire thing on the tube. The commentators' stupid and uniformed comments did little to bring comfort. I was in between trips O'Hare to Rome and can remember wondering if the terrorists actions would change life as I knew it. Boy did it ever.

Here's the best source of information I know of to monitor the present activities of those ass holes.

I've given generously to the cause.

thank you for the link!!

the worst part of that day was how scared my girls were to see the national guard walking around rifles at the ready all over teterboro airport on the way home from school, they were little at the time!! and the emotions closed my throat and filled my eyes so bad everytime i even attempted to explain and comfort them.

i have also contributed!! and work on the trib site out of love and respect!!

i can give you the link to the tribute site if you would like to pay your respects to the victims of 911. just let me know buzz

Here's what we had for dinner - Lilylove's Garlic Shrimp & Tomatoes (I omitted the scallops and added more shrimp). It was delicious!!! :thumb:
