What's Cooking NCT? Sun. 11/18/12 to Sat. 11/24/12

great u like, jimmy. they're gone fer the season, here, now. the ones i've got- they'll be put onto a chowder/soup, as per usual. how'll yinz use them~
they're def. yummy- a balance of spiciness, yet mild enough to have plenty.

Maria (DD and I ate a whole box the first day they came. Had with cheese and a little wine. LOL

I plan on making a creamy chowder tomorrow, with muscles / hake fish...that fake lobster, and some crab from the can, and mushrooms.

Sprinkle the top of the soup in the bowl with crushed fresh black pepper, and throw the little crabbie babies in the chowder to dip a bit before we pull em out and send them to the big bad tummy on the way and back to the ocean in the toity!

Here is the Amazon Link...hahaha I wrote the only review from Tina's dictation.

We really love them, and Tina is gonna ask the department at Weis market if they would get them for their sea food dept. They are a Central PA company ...Sunbury, PA, and they have stores near the Maryland border. Sort of!
Maybe we can then get them.???

jimmy, makes me glad yinz got/appreciate 'dem crabbers. thinking of a cream cheese & crab dip, mild, to balance the milder spice of crackers.
plain 'ol whipped tub of cream cheese would be yummy, too.
i shoulda bought a few boxes beyond that 1..:bonk:

Burgers and some sort of side for family and hopefully a burger or soup for me.

Then prep for tomorrow as much as I can before I collapse.

OFF TOPIC SIDE NOTE:

It has been an emotional roller coaster since Sandy hit. Between storm issues/damage and health issues it has really run me down. It has all caught up with me and I wasn't able to sleep last night or eat today (stomach is feeling queasy). I think I am going to play hooky from work today. I lost so much time from work due to the storm (they were out of power for a week) and food poisoning) I don't think 1 more day is going to make it much worse. I think I deserve a day to just decompress (a mental health day).

The Girls came over today to cook and bake.

DD was the baker...and DIL was learning to make the shells / crepes for the manicotti. They put them together with the cheese filling, and they are in the fridge; ready to just go into the oven tomorrow!

DD Maria baked three apple pies each different way, and also another cheesecake, and corn breads.

The kitchen was buzzing, and the cooks were busy. I was the garbage and clean-up boy! hahahaha

Praying for support and help for you peep.
God bless you and your family, and we pray that this all becomes a quick past.

Wishing for good things to come, and for health! Please take care peep. When you feel down, Remember to give a thought that we are praying for you and yours. I know it's easier said than done...but we all meet that darn stone wall in life. It will crumble, and you will walk on top of those stones, and laugh, as they become memories of little pepples, that just tickle your feet.
God Bless!!

!

Your family puts on a good spread.....really beautiful turkey. I'm lusting for your range.....six burners, stainless, it's just so pretty :in_love: .

Don't kid yourself into thinking Tina didn't see that tray on her beautifully set table. I wouldn't be surprised if it came up missing :yum: .

Thanks Cooksie.... they did 99% of the work.
All I did, was wash the turkey...and stuff & cook it.
Plus I did a lot of pot and dish clean-up.

The range... free!! ....Made it more lovable to us.

The cafeteria school tray is an expected item I think.
I guess they figure it would be a plus for when they move me to the Nursing Home for cranky fuss@$$ Old men who think they can cook, while opening a can of soup and slicing off a piece of bread. Haaaaaaaaaa

Well, the food fest is over until Christmas. For the first time that I can remember, I made the entire dinner, sans the wife making the gravy while I cut up the bird and got the bones ready for soup. Everyone else was busy with the new grandson and/or paying lots of attention to Alexa. Thankfully, my SIL jumped in and we cleaned up the entire kitchen after dinner. No female hands were defiled by cooking or cleaning in the making, serving or cleaning up this meal.:yum: Alexa said that grandpa makes the best bread. She had 1-1/2 dinner rolls.

All looks good Joe!... Nice carve job,
.Mine looks like I did it with a SawZall! LOL

We didn't take out our dishes, because there is nothing cooked / uncooked / boiled / fried / baked / to eat! .... [tears].

Tina got home from her trip to take her Uncle Home 6.5 hours total.
She brought me a sandwich hoagie, but it's too late to eat that now without me suffering with stomach and intestinal pain. GRrrrrrr!!!

She is having her cookies and her leftover turkey sandwich she made for the trip.

No Loss...Tomorrow's another day. Maybe early morn I will start digging at that hoagie. hahaha

I ate 1/2 the hoagie. Couldn't wait till tomorrow. I just kept thinking of it on my mind.
I drizzled olive oil on the inside, and kosher salt. Ummm!!

I'm being a good boy! I'm washing clothes for Tina!
Give her a break once in a while!

After all the turkey the day before I wanted something different. So I whipped up a big taco salad. Was quite delicious and filled me to where I felt like yesterday again. Had a good day prepping some things for the winter and getting some more wood in the shed.

I'm going to do something with cod tonight, not sure what though.

Taco salad sounds good. I saw something the other day that was pretty smart. This person had turned a mufffin pan upside down, pressed a flour tortilla down in between the humps, and baked it. The tortilla bowls came out with a fluted look, a lot like the ones that are baked in that new tortilla bowl baking gadget.

Dang Jimmy.....Free....doesn't get any better than that :thumb:

All of the Thanksgiving and food pics look soooooo good. Here's a few pics from our Thanksgiving. We're still eating on the leftovers

The menu: Turkey, Ham, Lasagna, Macaroni and Cheese, Dressing, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Green Bean Casserole, Broccoli Cheese Casserole, A Mess 'O Greens, Sweet Potato Casserole, Fried Okra, Corn on the Cob, Brussel Sprouts cooked in Bacon and onions, squash casserole (made by my wonderful daughter), deviled eggs, rolls and a cranberry tangerine relish made by a dear friend.

I forgot to get any pictures of our delicious desserts. My granddaughter made Gooey Pumpkin Butter Cake and my sweet son-in-law made an awesome chocolate pecan pie!
