What's cookin' 3/26?

A cold, wet and dreary weekend is in the forecast for my part of Orygun. Comfort food is needed to displace this crummy weather! Thinking a big dish of home made mac-n-cheese is in order.

I've got a london broil marinating in the fridge and if it stops raining long enough, I'll toss it on the grill later. I'm not sure about the sides though...

Red beans and rice over buttery sweet potatoes, and possibly creamed spinach.
-or- veggie chili and cornbread.
I'll decide later.

We have tickets to a comedienne tonight, and are going to dinner first at a brasserie I've been wanting to try.

What's cookin' March 26th?

DH is sick so I made a big pot of chicken soup, a pot of loaded potato soup, sausage biscuits, bacon egg and cheese biscuits, and all of the fixin's to make what I call "Welcome to Moe's" Burritos (black beans, shredded mexican 4-blend cheese, shredded lettuce, sour cream, garden and herb flour tortillas and Zatarains Smothered Chicken Mix with about 2 pounds of cubed chicken mixed in it. Roll it all up into a burrito) Her and her DH both have a busy week this week so she'll at least have a few days where she won't have to cook. We'll be taking all of that up there along with some OJ and some homemade bread. I made extra of everything so it will be a real smorgasbord tonight

You are such a kind and generous person, Mama! I am certain that your contributions will be greatly appreciated.

I'm having a small dinner party tonight (8 people) and spent most of yesterday afternoon prepping Italian porchetta (marinating in the fridge), a side dish with garlic mashed potatoes, spinach and cheese that I'll pop in the oven, and a lemon sour cream pound cake with (drum roll please) homemade lemon cheesecake ice cream with blackberry ripple. Also some homemade bread and a salad. I'll try to get some pics but can't guarantee.

You must remember to take pics Karen!
Just reading your party menu already has my mouth watering lol

Pizza. Delivered. too tired to cook and don't want to mess the kitchen up. Been packing all day. We have a huge pile for a charity pick up and an even bigger pile for the dump. Realestate lady should be here in 20 minutes or so to stage the house. That will take a few hours too.... oh i need a nap! ;)

That should be interesting! I watch Designed To Sell all the time and love it. Lol--Take a deep breath.

For dinner, I'm going to do something with ground pork.

Take time to take a breath of fresh air...that's what I've forgotten to do all day! THANKS for the reminder. It was very much needed. :)

My fever broke overnight and the razor blades are finally gone from my throat. I'm still congested both head and chest, with lots of gunk finding its way out. DW is spending the evening with her girlhood friend of 50+ years who lost her Mom two weeks ago, and is having a tough time dealing with the loss. They're going out to dinner then back to the house to talk all night. I'm having chicken noodle soup from the freezer and some Italian toast. Not very hungry for the past three days.

Glad to hear you're feeling better, Joe. I was afraid that there might be an ER visit in your future. Take care of yourself, amigo.

Right now, we're drinking Tito's vodka.

I planned a whole dinner, but we're exhausted and were thinking of getting a Nino's pizza.

But we're poor. When you have food in the house, and recently spent way too much on froof for your hair for your son's wedding, you cook what you have rather than order in.

So, I'm doing just your basic salad for the first course. I have some dried cranberries, candied almonds, and some irish porter cheese to toss with that.

Dinner is sauteed red peppers and portobello mushrooms with double cut pork chops braised in Red Gravy over grilled polenta.

Dessert is mini amaretto cheesecakes. (jacked from the restaurant)

We have wine...but I don't know what Lou is going to open.

{wish we ordered the pizza:cooking:}

Nice..nice reviews Vera!

My chili and cornbread was good. Didn't take any pics 'cause you all know what a bowl of chili and a hunk of cornbread looks like.

Garlic and basil linguine with tomato burgundy sauce topped with fresh grated Romano and Parmesan cheeses and salad (green and red butter lettuce, tomato, cucumber, toasted sesame seeds and sliced almonds) dressed with blue cheese dressing.

Looks great, Peeps! Beautiful salad as always...our dinner was a great success. The porchetta was tender and moist, and the potato dish was enjoyed by all. When I cleared the table, every plate was licked clean! The cake and ice cream were greatly appreciated, as well. But I totally forgot to take any pictures. We won't be home for dinner tomorrow night - we're going to a Mystery Dinner Theater, that is a fundraiser for a local charity. Leftovers Monday. With pictures.

Thank you Karen!!

It sounds like your dinner was wonderful!

Did you make the linguini Peeps? I watched an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives where the owner/chef makes homemade pasta to order for each person's meal. He also adds EVOO to his dough like I do.
