i'm sitting by the fireplace in our cabin, looking out a window at a mllion stars that i never get to see by tbe light pollution of the city. this skymap app is awesome. i watched sirius and rigel cross the sky tonight, as saturn rose above the horizon.

thanks karen. it would be great if everyone coukd join me for a party and bonfire in the snow tomorrow night. they have a great firepit and loads of wood to burn.
my boy is so excited to be here and sleep in bunkbeds that we thought he'd never drop off to dreamland. dw went in to lay down in the bottom bunk and is sound asleep, so it's just me and the stars.
and man, is it cold, crisp, and clear out! temps down to zero tonight. thank god for a crankin' fireplace.

Sometimes, I actually miss that cold, clear and crisp weather, especially when a fireplace is factored in. Our low temp this winter has been 50F on January 23. Enjoy.
