What are you giving up for Lent?

Some people recognize Lent and some don't. What are you willing to give up for 40 days?
I'm giving up Myspace.
 
oh man... I think I was born a lapsed Catholic...

I used to lie in CCD when made us say what we were giving up
*lightning strikes!

I actually like the spirit of the idea quite a bit though I can just never come up with something significant to give up and never understood why giving up gum or something mattered,
 
I think it's the point of giving up something that means something to us. It's in preparation for Easter and how Jesus gave up his life for us, we need to give up something for 40 days. I heard a discussion on the radio about it and it got me thinking about what would I and others are willing to give up for that time, if anything, lol. Who knows, I may fall off the wagon too, lol
 
for what it`s worth, when I was a kid, it meant giving up something that made the world a little bit better to live in.

so stopping Swearing was a good one but quitting Chocolate didn`t count, you could stop being intolerant of a sibling for instance, but losing the chewing gum didn`t count etc...
 
That's a good one to give up, rm. I think I'll pick that too (since I've never really been on. LOL!)
Or maybe housework!
I haven't done/picked something in years. I have guilt issues enough. Oh,
I could give up guilt though, but afraid I'd fail on that one too.
What a viscious cycle!

Shopping. I have a very addictive personality and shopping is one of my problems. Other than the BARE neccessities, I'm giving up shopping. I hope...I'll just have to touch the cross I wear around my neck next time I'm in a store with an urge to get something I DON'T NEED! Maybe that will help!
