Vertical chicken roaster

Hey, another one. It seems that this style is more popular now than it was a year ago when I was looking for a different type stand.

Works great for chicken, although I usually put in a lot less liquid than they recommend in the recipes.

You can bake a cake or bread in it, too.

Not that I have to ask but, post pics using the Raichlen one when you get it. Seems cheap enough, I like that you have the option of using the solid pan or not.

Here's a quick shot of the pieces broken down.

It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be. The stand, while square, is the same basic design as the round ones from wally world you often see. And the same basic size. And the drip tray just large enough to accomodate the stand. Looks like it will do the job, but until I carry a 5 lb bird in it, I'm not sure how stable it all will be. Stable enough I'm guessing (hoping). I've decided to keep it, but I was really hoping for a larger base to catch any falling rub.

Oh heck, yeah. Plenty of people do beer can chickens inside their oven and this stand would certainly work. It's pretty shallow though. I'm not sure I would entirely trust it to contain the drippings when sliding the rack out.

i've never cooked a bird standing up before. hmmmmmmmmmmm a turkey would work on that also? L2Q's standing up turkey looked so gooooooooooooood!! wait a turkey probably would not fit in the oven? i don't roast whole chickens very often. i basically roast whole turkeys.

isn't it difficult to reach the stove top that way? :whistling:
you know i had stated this a different way the first 3 times and i kept backspacing with you in mind!! just when i thought my post was "bucky proof" i find i am foiled again!!

LOL luv ya bucks!!

I don't think this stand is stout enough for a turkey. You might have to adapt a taller stand, like from a turkey fryer.
