CRAP !!

The Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was declared a dogma of the Roman Catholic Church by Pope Pius IX on December 8, 1856. It was decreed to settle the debate over how any ordinary woman, born carrying the stigma of original sin, could be chosen by God to be the mother of the Messiah. Hence, it was decided that she herself must have been immaculate (unstained by sin) from the moment of her conception. The faithful are reminded of this in the celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, on December 8. This is a Holy Day of Obligation, meaning all Roman Catholics should attend mass on that day.
