Washington D.C. was awarded a team in 1961 and gave them the fitting name of the Senators, who played in the American League. That team stayed there until 1971. The franchise then moved to Texas and became the Rangers, after the law enforcement agency. The Rangers first made it to the World Series in 2010 but lost to the San Francisco Giants.
