CRAP !!
Cats are thought to have become domesticated around 7500 BC in the Middle East. They were probably attracted to grain storage facilities in early human settlements that harbored large numbers of rodents. The first cats were almost certainly gray tabbies - gray cats with darker gray stripes.
This coloration provided the best camouflage in the wild. So how did the wide range of coat colors and patterns we see today come about? The answer lies in ancient Egypt. The Egyptians worshiped a cat goddess called Bastet, and cats were selectively bred to be sacrificed to her. So other colors eventually emerged, and persist until this day. But never fear - gray tabbies are still very common!
