Tomato Shortage 2023

Yesterday I was at commissary and they had a sign up where the tomato paste was to stock up on can goods of items you use regularly to assure you have what you need for shortages, etc…. I’m paraphrasing. They had the big 12 packs of tomato paste but single cans were gone. I wished I got one in retrospect.

I read an article about this on Taste of Home a while back.
I haven't noticed any shortage around here as yet, for anything tomato based, but perhaps it's yet to hit this area of the states.

We are headed to the commissary to stock up on tomato products. We want to get them before the hoarders do.

We stocked up on things we use a lot and got enough to share wit family if need be. I think next trip I’ll buy powdered milk, as well. We used it a lot while camping. I bought canned tomatoes for church chili rather than using home canned.
