The Oktoberfest Burger

I've seen commercials for Red Robin's Oktoberfest Burger. Yikes! Has anyone tried it yet? :alc:

The Oktoberfest burger is so titled because it contains elements common to the German food culture. The burger patty is fire-grilled, and topped with Black Forest ham, Swiss cheese, and slivered onions sauteed in beer and mustard. The burger is served on a “weck” (kummelweck) a German “pretzel roll”, which is similar to a Kaiser

. There are many variations of wecks, some are dusted with salt or caraway seeds

That looks so good. Wish there was a Red Robin here. There is one in Columbus and I will be there this weekend .....Maybe we can squeeze in a visit.

Sass, there is one in Toledo too. Lots more of them around Ohio than I thought at first.

To find out if they are near you here is a Red Robin link:

We only have one RR around here that I know of. Everytime we go to Red Robin the food fried food (zukes, fries onion rings etc) is dripping with grease. Very unappealing. I think the cook has no clue how to deep fry - maybe oil not kept at the right temp or crowding the basket. BUT that burger looks fantastic. So maybe we will go and get an unfried veggie side such as salad or tomatoes etc (IF they will sub). It really looks and sounds great.

And... Pastrami is back at Der Wienerschnitzel.

I like the idea of pastrami on a hot dog bun. The pastrami over the hot dog sounds great too.

Both places aren't close to me (& I've never been to a Red Robin), but I also posted them for inspiration/ideas - to make at home.

they need a lot of help.

fun most commonly is in German "Spass"

German has feminine, masculine and neuter nouns.

Spass is not masculine - aka "der Fun"
das Spass, mangle translated it would have to be das Fun.

Actually, the closest one to me would be in Fort Wayne, Indiana.:thumb:
Maybe I'll drive over this weekend and sample one.
