Sunday..08/07/11..What's To Eat?

Oh yum, yum, yum. SO many good things to eat today. Wonderful cake, chicken and taters from Joe (such a photogenic family, too!). Luvs - your dinner looks like something out of Bon Appetit magazine. Beautiful salmon, Mary - I love salmon. Nice chili dogs, Jimmy. Mama, you make the food from Sam's look like top notch stuff.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PANCH! Glad you treated yourself to a good time.
Barb, I love the idea of chipotle sour cream on a potato!
Nice tacos and tortas, Kim - can't beat carne asada.
Great BLT - LS. I like the bun, too!

We had a very successful little dinner party with our neighbors. They gobbled up almost everything! No salad left. No potatoes left. A little bit of meat left so that we can have a sandwich on the leftover foccacia bread. But (drumroll please.....) the hit of the night was Mama's banana praline cake. I'm telling you - everyone LOVES that cake. There was a little bit left, and DD absconded with it. As she left, she said, "I hope you don't mind that we took some cake. I left you some." A SLIVER. That's what she left. A tiny sliver.

Thanks for the great recipe, Mama...I'll be making it again very soon. Next time I really want to impress some company!

Sorry to be so distracted.
YUP!
Everyone prepared delicious dinners today.

I had a slice of ham, some sweet potatoes,cauliflower.. and peaches.. diced.
The ham and sweet taters were good.
The cauliflower sucked.. no seasoning.. boiled.. the peaches.. well.. what can you say about diced peaches in a little dessert dish sitting in front of you? lol
At least I was fed, but this is one dinner I won't be taking a chance on again.
Shoulda gone to Subway or something lol

Thanks everyone! Your meals all look delicious! I'm hungry now and it's 4:30 AM!! :readytoeat:

Glad your dinner party was a success Karen and Sass sorry your dinner wasn't up to par.....

everybody's dinner looks great and Joe happy birthday to your daughter the cake looks delicious.

I did Mexican tonight Carney Asada torta, Carney Asada taco and been tostada. the corn tortilla for the Carney asado taco was not fried, but heated on a stove top gas burner this is a way I generally make my tacos. The only time I fry taco shells is when I use brisket or string beef or chicken tacos. the torta [Mexican for sandwich] I split and put under the broiler to toast before adding beans, cheese Carney Asada lettuce and pico de gallo salsa. The tostada tortilla was fried then beans, cheese, lettuce and pico de gallo salsa again.

Oh this look so good. :a1: :thumb: I think I can make this on my low carb diet. sortof lol.

Oh & BTW I found a mexican grocery store. I bet I have passed it a 100 times & never even saw it. It is in a almost deserted shopping center right next to my vets office .. Duh.. Big truck was in the parking lot . blocking the office & I had to park elsewhere. So right in front of my eye. Mexican grocery! lol lol.I didn't go in , had Puppers in the car & its like 150` out. I will make it there soon tho. :thumb:
