I've done my rant on these - it got quite impossible....
upgraded to an iPhone8 which supports AT&T Call Protect.
it's a free app and no monthly fees - only for AT& customers, tho.
using the HiYa database, it suppresses suspect calls.
you can also totally block numbers - they can't ring the phone or leave voice mail. the pain specialists tell me to talk to them or Medicare would disown me left so many voicemails, daily, my box filled up.
the ability to totally block callers is a real gem.
using a default silent ring tone has reduced my spam load to 2-3 calls/day; which I don't hear or answer (all my contacts have an audible ring tone assigned...)
not a big fan of AT&T customer service or pricing, but the app works well.
iPhone6 and up; also for Androids (no idea of those reqmts)
I've got an iPhone5S going for postage if anyone needs one.
