Someone Doesnt Like Aaron McCargo

You think this guy didn't like the out come of this? Well yea, I think you are right. Sure glad I didn't watch it. :yum:

Despite the fact that the article is over a year old, I do agree that there was a predetermined outcome for the next star last July. Like the writer, I thought Adam was a shoo-in based on all the facts presented and the pilot shoot. I am not a racist, but I feel like the network needed to spread their appeal to another demographic, and they did so at the expense of talent.

I do not watch Big Daddy because I don't like how he cooks, nor do I watch the network's piss poor selection process after that debacle. Just put us out of our misery and put in whomever you want there. If you want a Black or Latino or Brit or Eskimo, just hire the best qualified person from that culture and be done with it. They will either sink or swim, which is how the rest of us commoners do in the workplace. I have seen too much of this type of behavior from people responsible for hiring in all walks of life, and it really bothers me when someone gets a job because of who they are, who they know or what demographic they fit, rather than what talent they bring to the table.

That's my 2 cents.

You know, these "Next (fill in the blank) chef competitions must get a huge response-otherwise I think it would be easier, and much cheaper, to hire them through the normal process. Honestly, love him or hate him, I think Guy Fieti is the only one whos really paid off for them thus far.

I haven't seen much of Aarons show not because of him, but because I'm watching less and less FN these days.

i dont think they utilized him much for anything. Why? Not sure. He could not have the talent they are looking for. Seems like a nice guy though.

I agree with you about Guy - there's not many people out there who can out-do his personality! He's just plain fun to watch!
I was glad Aaron won :tiphat:

You know, I've actually made a point to watch "Big Daddys house" the past few weeks, and I'm on his bandwagon as well.

Very personable (TV friendly) and he doesn't come off as pretentious as some others I won't mention.

And for the record, I tried his "braised short rib sandwiches" this past Friday and they were really good-I'll be making them again very soon, according to my family!!

Whoever it was that wrote that utterly ridiculous article needs to just go get a life!!

Aaron is doing just fine, and that stupid article was written more than a year ago. The troublemaker who started this needs to just go buzz off!!

I like the guy, and I think that he is just what the Food Network needs to spice up the channel as an alternative to some of those otherwise ridiculously boring programs (FNC for one).

Besides, Aaron has been getting more exposure since he's been on the Food Network, so there. Take that, you instigator, whoever you are!

Personally, I didn't think he did very well on the competition, and was very surprised when he won. But, I figure most people tend to get better as time goes on and they get comfortable with being on the air (I heard it took Giada 6 months of trying before she produced a workable show) so I decided that I would be patient and see how his show went. To tell the truth, I think he has progressed and I do like his show.

As for Guy, yea he is funny but, seriously, he needs some new catch phrases!! That and two of the places he raved about here in Chicago me and Deadly Sushi tried out and, uh, they stunk. Bad.

Yeah, at first, it didn't look like he was going to fair well, but he managed to pull it off and win!

The Food Network NEEDED a refreshing change, to which Aaron has brought to the network. This, I found out, is what they were missing - another cooking show host who is able to display his many superior cooking talents!

There probably hasn't been a male regular Afro-American chef on that channel for quite some time. The last one that I remember is Curt Atkins. Aaron has dazzled many with his big bold flavors & taste, as he likes to refer to them as, on the screen.

I hope that he continues with it. He seems very confident and happy! He's even expanded and has appeared as a guest on other shows on the network!

I really can't pin point the exact time when FN turned into the game show network, but that is when I started losing interest. 7pm 6c Food Network Challenge

Challenge: America's Bread Battle

8pm 7c Ace of Cakes

Cakes Take Flight

8:30pm 7:30c Ace of Cakes

Dog Day Afternoon

9pm 8c Chefs vs. City

Chicago

10pm 9c Chopped

Raw Enthusiasm

All these programs suck imho.

The only sucess story from the next TV chef was Guy. Even though I dont like his shows or cooking style he did become a big TV person. He is now even doing a network show.

To stay on point, Aaron McCargo is the worst of the bunch of winners that came from that show. I think Clyde (Every Which Way but Loose) was a better TV personality. Before anyone starts hating on my post, please stand to my left. "Right Turn Clyde"

Lefty. you're so right about those other programs!

Most of them are a complete waist of time watching!! Starting with that miserable and boring Food Network Challenge!

A friend of mine comes over often, and while he's here, he likes to watched the Food Network. And he watches FNC, which I hate! But I let him watch it anyway, because I want him to be happy here!

That channel totally stinks at night!! I can find much better things to watch than all those blasted challenge shows!

As for Aaron, I watch him every chance I get! I can think of a few others that sucked big time.

Those first two who won the 1st season, forgot their names, looks like their show didn't even last past 6 months! Amy Finnerly, or whatever her name is, she didn't last long either. The one who won last year, I don't care much for her either.

I think that the best two to come out of it so far, are Guy and Aaron. :chef:

I just hate that Guy is caught up in two blasted challenge shows! :puke1:

I'm with you Lefty. I don't watch much FN anymore. It seems like everyone on that network is all about "being a star" instead of being a chef/cook. It's really gone downhill over the years.

The FN dumped all of their real chef's over the last 2 years with those staying having more fluff shows than cooking. It is closer now to the Flay Network than Food Network.

Yeah, look how many shows Giada, Paula, Bobby, Guy, Sunny, Emeril and Mario had.

I extremely HATE that they moved Emeril Live to the Fine Living Network from its 7-8pm timeslot and put that utterly stupid boring & ridiculous Food Network Challenge in its place!!!! Was that stupid or what?!

Whoever dosen't have the HBO package on Comcast can't get that channel, and I'm one of them. But I won't pay Comcast any more money.

But in any case, the Food Network's night-time line-up totally STINKS, as practically every show is a friggen CHALLENGE show at night!!! That channel is nothing but a flophouse at night!

the best cooking shows are on pbs, imo.

the best foodie shows are on the travel channel.

the best fluff shows about food are on foodtv.

Luckily, I got each of her six old shows on VHS called The Way to Cook!

She's timeless, priceless and there won't be anyone else like her! Ever!!

She was truly one of a kind!

Emeril and Mario are all reruns of their FN shows. Emeril now has a show on the Green Network where he help 1 person with their dietary problems at a Whole Foods store. It is pretty good something like a cross between the old Taylor show where he went to people's homes to help them prepare a meal and a show about people with food allergies. It is pretty good for the most part at least the dozen I've managed to catch.

Mario is now on doing specials on a travel channel about foods around the world but not on a regular basis though.

Flay I never could watch, Giada original show from what I've seen are all reruns, same with Paula original show. Never could watch a single show of Gay's shows at all. They do have new shows but nothing I would watch as for the others you listed, I've never seen them so that will give you a clue as to how long it has been since I watch FN.

I miss Martin Yan the most as he was always my favorite on PBS followed by Jeff Smith and Julia. There are others that where also pretty good on PBS. Our local PBS doesn't have a single cooking show at all on it.

Mario has left the Food Network. he's not even on the Iron Chef America roster.

Yeah, I heard about the other show that Emeril does, but I'm not sure if i can get the channel that it's on.

Jeff Smith was involved in a sex scandal before he died. Martin Yan has made one or appearances on Emeril Live. The Food network could certainly stand some improvement with a cooking show by HIM!!!
