Pork Chops Majestic

This was one of my mother's favorite recipes.

Made it tonight - wonderful!

Lee

Pork Chops Majestic (Joan's)
6 pork chops
Black pepper
Seasoned bread crumbs
Olive or veg. oil for browning chops

1 cup water
1 teas bouillon (chicken, beef or mushroom) or 1 cube
1 T. sugar
6 T. sherry
¼ cup soy sauce


2 onions, sliced
2 cloves garlic, chopped

Cornstarch to thicken gravy

Sprinkle chops with black pepper.
Dredge chops in breadcrumbs and brown in hot oil.
Mix next five ingredients and nuke to blend.

Put chops in stove top Dutch Oven or large frying pan. Top chops with onions and garlic. Pour over the liquid mixture.
Simmer one hour, covered, turning chops over halfway.
Place chops on a platter and thicken gravy with cornstarch/slurry.

I made this again for my Dad and me this week. What a great recipe of my mother's!

The chops look so beautiful after they're browned without the delicious gravy. Some day I'm just going to skip the gravy and finish the chops in the oven on a rack.

I made this with 2 pork steaks, cut in half, one night last week. I forget how wonderful it is until I make it again!

Served with Yukon Gold mashed and dilled carrots.
