Popsicle

For several years after we were married, we were very broke, especially after our two kids were born. We fed them milk, fruit, veggies, meat, all the things that were considered healthy back then, but we had zero money for extras. That means for the first few years of their lives, we never purchased and I never made cookies, candy, ice cream, cake and such. But when our son was about two years old, maybe younger, we bought the kids each a popsicle. I broke my son's popsicle in half and placed a stick in each of his hands.

That evening when I opened the bottom drawer of our son's chest of drawers to get his pajamas, there was a popsicle stick and a large, orange circle on one of his pajama shirts. I called my husband into the room and said, "Look." He started to get angry until I busted out laughing. When he asked why I was laughing, I said, "He was saving half of his popsicle for later."
