Pepper Grinders

Yea... we will see. Two years from now, I may be back here bitching about it and wondering why I did not heed the advice!!!! LOL!

"Highly renewable resource" (lol). I read that on the bamboo grinder I tried out. I immediately thought of the Pandas and their decreasing habitat.... Maybe I'm not understanding the phrase correctly.

I don't know. It's just the way my mind works.
Like saying look at that cat playing with the mouse. The mouse doesn't see it that way. (lol)

That being said, I need to start a thread for a countertop electric grill!!!

I have a George Foreman 5. It's got 5 plates for different types of cooking from griddle to grill to waffle iron and I don't remember what else. I don't like it so much for grilling, only because I like the taste of outdoor grills better but it works in a pinch for burgers for the kids :)

I agree with others who have recommended the Unicorn Magnum Plus for use in the kitchen. It holds about a cup of peppercorns, and be quickly adjusted for grinds from cracked to powder, and it's very fast -- 10 partial twists cranks out a teaspoon of medium- to coarse-ground pepper.

But it's not very pretty:

For your table, you might want to consider the incredible (and expensive) grinders from Pepper Passion (which also sell some of the best pepper in the world -- try the Talamancha):

Man no doubt... very nice... the grinder collector must be drooling!!!

Thanks Rickismom... I'm gonna be looking into indoor grills shortly. I got a baby deep fryer on the way now that I'm looking forward to!

I have a cheap pepper mill, and I also use my spice grinder.

I think the next pepper mill I buy will be electric...

Ok dude, you got me to thinking about this and I had to go looking... looks like (or at least they want us to think) that the Pandas are not being impacted:

Quote from the link:
Bamboo is actually a grass that grows to a harvestable height of 60 feet in about three to five years, growing as much as two feet per day. It has an extensive root system that continually sends up new shoots, naturally replenishing itself. It does not require replanting, making it one of the most renewable resources known. The species used by Totally Bamboo, "Moso" timber bamboo is not a food source, or a habitat, for the Giant Panda.

I'm still looking around for more info on it!

I also will tell you Bamboo grows all over the world. My middle son has a home on 5 acres of land just North of Mooresville, NC and he has managed to get one acre clean for the yard. Now the rest is pretty much all bamboo. It grows like a weed there and he fights to keep it from creeping back into his sodded yard.

Yea, I got a neighbor that has it growing in his back yard, he's gonna regret it soon!

We have this one, among a few manual ones. Variable grind, easy on the wrist, lighted - looks kind of like the other one shown:

It will get the job done when you need a teaspoon or more of fresh ground. Think it came from Sur LaTable - but you can order on line I believe & get better pricing.
