there's a 2009 thread about these.

I have a William Bounds model from 24 years ago; it's starting to really show it's age.

I'd buy another (same WB-1 model is still avail!) but never was happy with the 'medium or fine' grind settings. emailed Bounds, no answer, time to check out the competition.

must have a crank hand; no electrics/battery/twist off yo' wrist types.

looking at the Atlas coffee grinder style - I've got this thing for brass/copper (sigh) - but I've seen (long past) reviews that were not at all complementary.

first it has to work well; if it doesn't work well, then pretty is completely silly idea.

any updates from 2009?

i now buy mcCormic, & those suffice quite well. I use fancier ones as décor items. market district ones, there.

got quickly tired of $17.99/canister, so went on to buy via grocers that i'll see in my area, & chit-chat w/.

I have these

thanks - the OXO is "highly rated" but I have a skewed eyeball when it comes to review on shopping sites.

they generally make good stuff - and at $12 will not cause great financial harm if I don't care for it.... (g)

CM, the Unicorn Magnum has been very highly rated, and is on my "wish list".

I mucho prefer the crank handle style.

the twist-to-grin just does not excite me - but if the company has a crank style with similar "guts" - I'm all ears! or corns, or whatever....
