Newborn Mockingbirds

I think there are three in the nest, maybe one more. They're right outside my front door about 2 1/2 feet off the ground and the nest is so well camouflaged one would never see it unless attracted by the adults coming and going.

It'll be fun watching the progress - hope the crows don't find them.

FINALLY, some wildlife that won't kill you, Buzz!

Have fun, and keep sharing their growth with us!

They can be very irrating if your trying to sleep, but they are remarkable birds.
They can mimic up to 40 different sounds. I think the one's that sing out my window know more than that.
Great fine Buzz-Thanks for posting!

I don't know about the not killing him. The adults will dive bomb you Buzz if you get to close to the nest. I had a cat that was quite a hunter who was bald due to those birds. They wanted the fur to line their nest. Mockers are absolutely fearless. I want a pair to build a nest in my apricot tree. They'll keep the squirrels out of it.

Fearless is the word. Every morning at dawn two great horned owls come to the shore of the lake I'm on. They hang out for 30 minutes or so, walking into the water, drinking and bathing. It's quite the sight. Now that it's Mockingbird nesting season all you can hear is that particular screeching sound they make to warn off predators. The owls hardly budge even though the mocking birds actually touch them on their fly bys. The crows are much more easily chased off.
