Looking for 2 or more new tube pans to suplement my old one.

With a SOLID bottom like the one pitured below.

Not those two-piece ones with the loose removable bottoms!

I don't like those because some of the cake bater can leak out through the bottom of them!!

Hi Sherman...The pan in the top most picture appears to have seen a good many beautiful cakes like the one you made before (the 7-up cake that was so gorgeous!). Have you ever considered trying a spring form pan to make your cakes? You get a beautiful, high cake with them and then the pan is "sprung", making the finished cake much easier to get out. As well, the newest thing in cake pans seems to be the nylon or silicone pans (I think that's what they're made of although I'm not completely sure). Now that I think about it, I don't believe I've ever seen a tube pan made of the stuff, though. I've used the silicone cookwear for cupcakes and loaf cakes and I really like it. Easy to work with and very easy to clean. :whistling:

I'm too afraid that those types of pans would allow some of the batter to leak out, creating a burnt mess on the oven floor.

The Angel-Food-Cake pans don't leak because the batter is much lighter & fluffier than regular cake batter. It's not liquid enough to leak through. In addition, once in the oven, the batter starts to solidify quicker which again keeps it from leaking.

Yeah, I know that Angel food cake batter is much lighter than any other cake batter - hence the enormous amount of whipped egg whites being used and not much flour.

Here's a pic of my new tube ake pan at home. It arrived yesterday.

Came in it's own protective ziptop bag. I'm going to KEEP it in there when not in use, to help protect it from scratches, nicks and dents, so that its non-stick coating won't get scatched, start to peel or crack. :)

Hi, Sherman...Your new pan is a beauty and I agree with ChileFarmer...if it does cakes as beautiful as the one you pictured before, you're on your way! Glad you found exactly what you'd hoped to have...no removable bottom. Did you order it on line? Or buy it locally?

This cake doesn't rise as high as the 7up Cake, but nonetheless, it's still rich tasting and luxuriously appointed!

Thanx!

Yeah, the new pan works out great!!

So great that I'm contemplating getting another one for those times when I have to make two of them at the same time!!
