Nope, I haven't been there yet. It's funny sometimes the language differences that come up. My Editor speaks very good English, but in email, there are still little hiccups that are odd….but I know what he means.

One of the funniest was when he tried to use a German slang for “maybe” which is a combo of “Ja” and “Nein” = “Jein”. That’s the way it works in German (as he explained it to me).

He tried the same with English for Yes and No and came up with……Yo!

So he said, “This is a tricky formatting question, but about your concerns, I’d have to say YO”.

:yum::yum::yum::yum:

Yo? Was-up!!! Yoooo-Joe!!!

It was rather funny.

LOL! I asked Frank (he's born and raised in Hambrug, Germany) about this, and he says:

Haha, that's basically the full written out meaning of ROFL in German (although the acronym isn't used here).

Impressive BT! How many languages do you know?
 
ich spreche eine bisschen deutsch, y yo hablo espanol, e riesco a leggere un menu italiano.

lol, i had to google the italian. you can't eat a "leggere".

Excellent reading Keltin. And I wouldn't worry about smiling in photos cos when you are relaxed, your smile photos well.

I have a million "bum" shots of my cats. You get their head in frame and they turn as you hit the button. I now take the photos when they are asleep! Your photos are really nice.

Extra points for writing and answering your own questions too!

hmmmmmmmmmmm :idea: i just had an idea ............ what if you make them think you want a butt shot? will they turn around and give you a head shot? :smile: cats are very mischievous creatures!! i think they have wicked sense of humor sometimes. LOL

You know I did try that once. Wanted to show my mum a photo of my cat's surgery to his bottom. He started to turn to face me!!!!

well, I wondered what BT wanted to tell us.. ;)
But he's doing very well with his translations and in most cases it fits very well ;o)

I guess, my english is a bit odd sometimes, too.. that's just the way we learn it :blush:
but I never had the feeling you don't know what I mean - and worst things to translate are recipes.. *phew*

I guess that Frank in Hamburg (love that city..) is something about 35-40 years old?

Frank is my age. He's got me by a month, so we are basically the same age (him being a month older at 39 years old). So we're both 39.
 
typical age for Germans named Frank ;o)

My DH always says, the name is just a placeholder for a real name..
