My next toy

I was this (--) close to buying one..a portable one.

but

highly illegal, and frm what I understand they can figure out pretty easily if someone is "Jamming" signals. I guess it shows up as a cole in their coverage, depending on the size of the effected area.
Maybe a way of passivly blocking the signal would be better. My shop is made of steel-- almost like a big faraday cage. As soon as you step in the door..no cellphone, and no radio (that inda blows)

From what I understand, they're not illegal to own but they're illegal to operate. Now that doesn't make much sense.

I'm sitting here at Starbucks right now and there's this one lady yapping loudly on her cell phone across from me. Everyone can hear her conversation. The volume level at which she is speaking is very annoying.
I wish I had this little gizmo with me right now so I can shut her up.
The only problem with that is, is that it'll probably kill my wi-fi connection as well....:P :D

LOL the problem with cell phones is people think that because they can't hear the other person well THEY need to speak louder themselves.

There is an op-ed piece in today's Wisconsin State Journal about just such a device.

As for illegal, heck, isn't most of the stuff we do and own illegal? We have 'bangers operating a drugstore out of my favorite Chinese restaurant and nobody cares about that.

For the price it might be a good time to get one before they stop marketing them.

I'm a very laid back person, just ask me!, but I have one pet peeve and cellphones is it. I walk to work and to the pub for happy hour and I come close to getting hit about twice a week and its always by someone on a cell. When driving you can usually tell who is on the phone, since their speed is up and down and they are drifting in their lane.

I think these would work for those idiots.

I sometimes use my cell phone in public but am totally conscious of my volume level as I am speaking.

I too often see people practically yelling in their cell phones.

Not at all.

Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

About these jammers .... I wonder if they can be amped up, or how much more coud be gotten with them with a properly sized large(r) antenna.

Now I will tell you a little story about these little air horns. I received a phone call in the middle of night. I answered the phone still half asleep to some A-Hole with one of these in my right ear. I not only tore out the phone but I lost the ability to hear with my right ear for almost a year. To this day someone gets near me with one of these they are taking their life in their hands. I'm laid back too until I'm not anymore.
