Music

This one got some airplay in the late 90's. Kris "Tyler" is my niece-and probably my best friend growing up. (my oldest brother is quite a bit older than me) Sadly, we had a falling out back in the 90's-very stupid, and very much my fault. FWIW, I was very much out of myself, back then a two time junkie, and frankly, a real asshole. Her and her sister Lisa spent the past 20+ years hating me, and with very good reason. In the past few weeks, Lisa and I have begun to mend the fences, but Kris, well she is not so receptive to the idea, and it breaks my heart, but honestly, I deserve it-I certainly broke hers. She got a record deal in the late 90's, and her album "What a woman knows" spawned this single. It didn't sell as briskly as she would have liked, but the whole thing is just beautiful-not a bad song on it. Shes made a very comfortable living ever since as a songwriter, so success has come-just not the way she thought it would. Shes a brilliant guitarist, and even a more brilliant wordsmith, so I thought I'd share this with my friends here. And btw, her Sister Lisa is the one I'm asking for prayers for in the seriously speaking forum. This is "Keeping your kisses". Enjoy, and sorry about the long diatribe. Sometimes I just need to purge.

I still recall her and I, "playing" Tennis rackets in my bedroom to Mott the Hoople records. Kris, if by some miracle you run across this, I am so sorry.

Awww, I can't listen to this tonight because my mom's asleep and I didn't bring any headphones with me this time. But tomorrow, I'll be listening to Kris while I eat my breakfast, SK.

You know Terry, its gotten to the point that I can hardly listen to her stuff. Shes such a good writer, and her voice just makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Yes, I am very biased, but I am so proud of her and whenever I listen to her, my eyes well up, and the waterworks begin. The only thing I want before I leave this earth, is for her and I to sit down on the porch and play a little together. There is a line from Poco's "Pickin up the pieces" that always brings a tear to my eyes (yeah yeah men of NCT-I will check to see if I still have testes next time I go to the bathroom!)

"I hope that the day will come, when we both can sit down and strum, on our guitars, on a Sunday afternoon"

Gosh-I hope that she will eventually know how proud of her I am......

I.

This is actually a cover of Van Morrison's "Sweet Thing", but it's a really good one. :)

Way back when in 67
I was the dandy
Of Gamma Chi
Sweet things from Boston
So young and willing
Moved down to Scarsdale
And where the hell am I

Hey Nineteen
No we can't dance together
No we can't talk at all
Please take me along
When you slide on down

Hey Nineteen
That's 'Retha Franklin
She don't remember the Queen of Soul
It's hard times befallen
The sole survivors
She thinks I'm crazy
But I'm just growing old

Hey Nineteen
No we got nothing in common
No we can't talk at all
Please take me along
When you slide on down

The Cuervo Gold
The fine Colombian
Make tonight a wonderful thing
We can't dance together
No we can't talk at all

Lilbopeep,

I LOVE this song! Haven't heard it so long! :thumb:

Bumped into Lacuna Coil as a ref to a ref........and like them. Reminds me of Evanescence a bit. Love her voice and how it shines against the dark tones of the song. Like the video too....looks like some Ninja action going on, and I'm always up for that!
