Memorial Day Weekend

It appears, guacamole potato salad ...;)

Me too, I'll be making that to take along- my BIL Russ is making his BBQ'D chickie, and my sister's making banana pudding.
Don't know what everyone else is making so far.. it's gonna be a blast though.
About 16-20 (possibly) of us at the park all day, eating like pigs and playing volley ball and tennis too.
Hopefully, the weather will cooperate!

Paul's parents will be here....

For dinner Friday I'm making lamb stuffed tomatoes and either spinach and lentil soup or Greek bean soup.

Saturday we're going out for Italian.

Sunday breakfast over night French toast.

They are leaving Sunday after breakfast...so the rest of the weekend will be easy cooking leftovers and such! :) :)

No real plans yet. I would like to smoke a brisket. I haven't ever done one and I would like to try.

Potato salad would be nice.

Mostly work on home projects and vedge out.

My inlaws usually come up, we'll slap something together by Saturday evening....
Potato salad sounds good though...

If we get some rain and they lift the burning ban, we'll burn some of the tree crap I cleaned up this week, but I don't think there's much chance of rain the rest of the week.
:(

Early plans this weekend involve a baseball game at the new Yankee Stadium. Yankees are playing the Phillies....and for the first time, Lou and I will be routing for different teams.

Saturday we're both hoping to be down the shore, but if not I'll make something for the iron chef thing...

Maybe Sunday will be the shore day...

At this point, everything is up in the air, and it all depends on the weather.

That sounds fun, Vera.
Me? I'm working like a dog. Very busy weekend, but they all have been busy lately. I've got a taste for grilled hot dogs, so they'll be made at one point.

Food wise I am not to sure, grill will be the center of attention. As far as plans, I will be doing the Vereran's services, and the Memorial Day Parade (Driving the Commander's Car)

Thanks to all who served.

I'm gonna be a bachelor from Friday until sometime Sunday. Dw's going over to Minnesota for her nephew's graduation from HS, and I'm on call. I see a couple of frozen pizzas in the freezer, as well as some Chili, hotdishes, and lasagna, so I won't starve. I'll just work the crap outta the microwave.
Might go out to eat a time or two.

Well, let me see here...since the garden center dropped 4 yards of mulch on my driveway, I think getting rid of it will be one of the weekend chores. I might be able to get that done in the evenings during the rest of the week. I'm working all day Saturday because I got thrown off of a jobsite due to sealcoating of the parking lot that was supposed to be done the previous week (the moron told me I could park in the public lot 1/4 mile away and carry my tools in, but not drive on the sealcoat for 48 hours. I told him to kiss....never mind). Then we have a Baptism on Sunday, and hopefully a cookout on Monday, weather permitting. Seems like not much rest for the wicked. :yum:

I'm going to California for a long weekend, for my sister's wedding reception (they were married in a very small ceremony in February). No idea what the food plans are

Not sure here, either. I do know that my club will be OPEN on Monday, as always for a Monday holiday. However, even though we're open, we're still pretty dead. I don't normally work those days. I should get my usual Monday/Tuesday off, hopefully. Food will be up to me, as usual. I might smoke something, might just grill.

I found a new spot for night-fishing for catfish that I really want to try, so hopefully there will be a night fishing trip over that weekend.

My plans are open at the moment. I hope to spend some quality time with my mom and take some time for me. Perhaps, if it is nice, I can play with my digital camera and/or bake.

folks..lets not forget what Memorial day is for.-- (before someone gets sand in their crack, I wasn't implying anyone forgot)

I'm just getting over last weekend with the in-laws, so I haven't even thought about it. Definitely will be watching the Indy 500 and the Coca Cola 600. It should be a good weekend to run the grill!

Well said.

We're going to a bbq Monday (not sure what they're making), will probably bbq at home :chef: on Sunday (pork spare ribs or baby backs, brisket).

I have two deceased Uncles and a deceased Grandfather whom served in the Marines and the Army.

I have a son whom has been serving in the Navy since Dec. 1999. I pray to god every day, that he will protect him and all others serving our country.

They definetly will not be forgotten in our home.

They better be Smiths or Nathans. We are addicted to Smiths. We call them "Erie Dogs" because for a long time we had them "imported" by our neighbor who works in Erie.

This has always been my favorite Memorial Day pic! Never forgotten from either side!!

I will go Sunday to put flowers on my daddy's grave, a Vietnam vet. I'm hoping that Restland still has their day. There will be military men and women there to thank personally, if they do. I really hope they do!!

I am looking foward to 3 days off.. I have some plastering to do in the kitchen... I have to start studying for an exam (that I really dont want to take but have to) and Plan to get some gardening in as well. I am going to be exhausted when it is done

Nice pic Stacy!!
Yep, we always go out and lay flowers on my Daddy's grave too.
The local VFW and American Legion have a parade, so that's gonna fit in there too at some point.

I've never been to the Vietnam Memorial, but I have seen the portable version twice. Always a moving experience. I guess, since the Vietnam Vets got such shitty treatment from US, I owe it to them....and myself....to visit it each chance I get.
My mom's youngest brother's name is on that wall.

Oh yeah, lest I forget, DW's birthday is Sunday! I asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday, and she said that she wants to watch the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600. Damn I'm a lucky man! :thumb:
