Mardi Gras Muffulettas

Ingredients

  • 1 9 3/4-ounce jar green olive salad, drained and chopped
  • 1/4 pound sliced provolone cheese
  • 1/4 cup pitted black olives, chopped
  • 1 large celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 1/5 teaspoons TABASCO brand Pepper Sauce, divided
  • 1 8-inch round loaf crusty French or sourdough bread
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 pound sliced salami
  • 1/4 pound sliced baked ham
Directions
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]In medium bowl, combine green olive salad, black olives, celery and 1 teaspoon TABASCO® brand Pepper Sauce. Cut bread crosswise in half; remove some of soft inside from each half. In small bowl, combine olive oil and remaining 1/2 teaspoon TABASCO® brand Pepper Sauce. Brush mixture on inside of bread. Fill bottom with olive mixture. Top with salami, ham and provolone slices. Top with remaining bread half. Cut loaf into quarters.[/FONT]

Delightful! Haven't had these in years. I moved from Mobile, AL. back in 1990, but we had several friends back there that made these. I always wondered what the recipe was! Thanks a million! I'm so looking forward to having these again! :clap:
 
the biggest key in these..and i am speaking as a canadian that loves food...its all in the bread..if you dont get just the right bread it is just a sandwich..lol

Yep, been there several times Bam, I only live about 15 miles from there!

i am trying to figure out the name of a restaurant there... it wasnt anything fancy....all the peel & eat shrimp,crawfish and seafood bar you could eat... they also made great po' boys...

you sat down at big long tables...
 
Bam, not really sure of the name of the restaurant, I'm pretty sure I know which one you are talking about, but can't remember the name for nothing, I'll try to find it out for you though.

Bam, I think you are probably talking about Waynes BBQ on Frost rd. They have been there for ages, and serve all kinds of down home food besides BBQ. Does that ring a bell?

nope i have heard of that though...lol

everybody goes there for the crab legs,peel & eat shrimp and crawfish

i would guess that it was about 3 years ago the last time i was there, not sure how long the place has been there... the reason i was trying to find out is so i can give it a restaurant review and recommend it to anybody that goes around that area...but i have CRS(cant remember sh&t) syndrome...lol
