i mean, it probably wouldn't be much of a problem as there aren't many (any?) magnetic foods, but you never know.
You could wipe it off but it could cloud the finish while you sharpen.
I don't bother doing it with the Wusthof I keep in my work roll, it's a beater anyways (I use itin lieu of a Western Deba- lobsters, chicken bones, etc).
