Magnetic knife holders

lol, buzz.

sadly, no, f-mom. i don't have a web cam.

i don't even have a computer at home. it's the last thing i want to see after dealing with them all day.

i wonder, do those blocks magnetize the knife after a while?

i mean, it probably wouldn't be much of a problem as there aren't many (any?) magnetic foods, but you never know.

lol..no worries, just dont wear a huge belt buckle when your at the chopping board

IIRC smaller magnets are used with alternating domains to prevent magnetization. Don't quote me on that, though.

Only real problem I could envision with a magnetized knife would be swarf sticking when you sharpen it. You could wipe it off but it could cloud the finish while you sharpen.

Not to hijack, but this is the reason I tape everything when I sharpen, as in this example.

Yeah, I pretty much do that too, Chico. My blades are pretty carefully encased in painters tape.:agree: I don't bother doing it with the Wusthof I keep in my work roll, it's a beater anyways (I use itin lieu of a Western Deba- lobsters, chicken bones, etc).
