Boo Hoo..I can't go on the back deck and have my coffee if it rains.
I put the two porch umbrella's away.

That's ok...I have a pop up I will use. I think sitting or standing under an umbrella in the rain of course...is so cozy.
When I was a kid..I used to sit on the back porch with dads big black Umbrella, and watch the rain and the lightning. Until Mom chased me inside if the lightning got too close. hahahahaha

We are supposed to get a nice walloping here in Philly. Just rainy now though. I am prepared as I can be. Generator and a full gas can, Battery Pack charged, couple lanterns and a flashlight, charcoal and lighter fluid, case of water, beer, smokes, flashlight, radio, batteries, food, dog food, cooler full of ice. Hope none of it is necessary, except the beer of course. My main concern is the power, they are saying if the power goes out it could go for up to two weeks, that is not a funny thought.

Hang In The P H ...

Yep! Beer would def be the first thing on my list. LOL

I remember as a kid...Mom would send me across the street to pick up 3 Quarts of "Shmidt's" for the weekend, or if it was gonna snow. WOW... Talk about a headache from that stuff. And that was just sipping the foam (head) when we were kids.
When they stopped making in the mid 80's...Mom cried enough tears to fill thirty quarts.

Wow...check it out!
The Piazza looks like a great place to visit.
I'll have to show DW.
She's been itchin to go to Philly. I said,"Why do you want to go there?"
I said, I was there years ago in the Navy Yards, and there ain't nuthin there!
She said," I wanna go ring the bell!" ...I'm like,"What Bell?"
"The Liberty Bell she said!" LOL/............
What makes you think they will let YOU ring that bell? .... It's in one piece yet, and after you get your hands on it, it may crack in half!..hahahaha
I just like to bust her chops!.....

Well there still aint nothin down by the naval yard but Northern Liberties/Fishtown (where the Piazza is) and Passyunk ave in south Philly are booming with great bars and restaurants and it is much cheaper than NY to stay in a swanky hotel and dine/drink out. They also just built a pretty sweet new visitor center for the liberty bell, but if your wife tries to ring it she will probably end up in Jail and Philly Jail is not a good place LOL.

Now I am off venturing into the storm to a neighbors Hurricanes and Guacamole party. Only a couple hundred feet so It should be fine but it is starting to get nasty out there.

Be Careful..... Have a Great time too!

We are ok so far just really flooded. The back end of my street is a lake. We still have a few hours to go. The eye hasn't quite reached us yet then the tail. Channel 12 News is saying by 1 PM it should be gone.

We aren't out of the woods yet. We are in the eye and the flood water is getting higher. WE are in a bad palce in that respect - The Meadows - we have Hackensack, Passaic Rivers AND MANY creeks including Berry Creek. It is about a foot till it comes in my house. We have planks (railroad ties), garbage cans, all sort of debris floating down my street.

The wind is kicking up slightly and starting to rain again. I am so glad the 2 approx 100 foot trees are gone from my yard. About 3 years ago in a mild rain storm with gusts of about 10 MPH one of them just slowly tipped over (came out of the ground at the roots) and gently rested on my neighbors house. Thank God the wind had eased off at the time. The park came right over and cut it up and removed it. The next week they took the other one down. The house is a lot hotter without the shade trees but I don't have to worry about huge branches or trees falling on us.

The FEMA guy just said the storm is exiting NJ and heading out to Long Island. So we may be out of it sooner than expected. Stay safe all in that direction.

They are saying it has moved out of NJ BUT it is picking up speed and the winds are now up to 85 MPH heading towards RI. We only got about 30 MPH where I am. Stay safe.
THE SUN IS OUT HERE!!

Thanks for the update (s) peep.

We came out OK here on my street. The rivers in the area are swelling, and there are streets flooded in town, and some in danger as the river swells further.
We did not lose power, but around town and area's encircling the town, there are poer interruptions.

Son Jimmy..Lives in Great Meadows (Liberty Twp)..has no power.
He is running a small Genset to keep the sump pump running.

Daughter Maria lives on the Musconetcong River, and the river is swelling into her back yard and rising. They have no basement, but water can enter the structure.

The kids are coming over at 5 for supper today.
TINA is baking chicken breasts ( :yuk: yuck for Jimmy )
JIM HERE..is making meat balls and sauce. hahahahaha (:good: Yum for JIMMY)

The busses arent running...so I'll put it on the next boat!...LOL

If you see a Gondola coming up the Hackensack River,...that be Jimmy paddling the boat.

I just put chop meat, fresh - garlic, basil, parsley and oregano, tomatoes, Star Ravioli and cavetelli on my shopping list.

My neighbor is bailing his car out with a little plastic kiddie TO GO drink cup. YIKES. We parked our small car 2 streets over and would need to swim to it so I have no clue if our small car is flooded. The big car may also be flooded where it is parked at the far end of our street but we can't get to that one either at the moment.

Its amazing that how some people can cause a panic over nothing.

Somehow, there was a rumor that the Lake Shawnee Dam had broken.

It was a rumor...

Tina was so nervous because there was a rumor that the river by DD where she is, would have a 8 foot storm surge.

OMG talk about panic. All of a sudden I was condemned for trying to stay calm and trying to calm her down...

When the town Mayor came on the radio..he said that the Dam Break was a Hoax.

My daughter is so relieved... So am I and Tina...

LOL There was another rumor that a roller coaster (KingDaKa) at Six Flags Great Adventure had fallen down from wind during the hurricane. Channel 12 News said that was a complete hoax/rumor. NO roller coaster fell down. What fools start these stupid rumors?

Just looked at Craig's list.

Now that the storm has moved on and the Sun is shining, there are a bunch of generators for sale, some of them "new still in the sealed box"
