I can't stand this, but I will eat that!!!

I might just try that Calico though it never crossed my mind. Italians really don't do a lot of smoking of meats but do cure a lot with other methods.

I didn't try it til I moved down here and was here for a couple of years. I guess the south (Fl - not Sicily) is finally wearing off on me alittle.
But I still ain't eatin black-eyed peas! And that be that!

Eggs..... but not as bad as I used to be.

The only way I would eat them was in a cake or cookies...

Now I will eat them but only covered with other stuff to drown them out..... like an omlette overly filled and covered with stuff, or scrambled with cheese and salsa.
but NEVER will I eat plain scrambled or fried or poached or anything plain egg.

I love raw salmon on sushi but really don't care for it cooked at all...
Same here. Don't like baked salmon, no matter how good it's supposed to be for you. Love Lox with my bagels & cream cheese. On our last cruise I ate so much Lox every morning that my skin smelled like it. :yum: Must have eaten 1/2 pound every morning...love it. Call me smokey...

Well I was born and raised in Miami Florida myself and now live in Kentucky. Oh and I love black eye peas actually make a pretty good black eye pea salad to serve cold. Here is the recipe if you feel adventures.

Marinated Blackeye Peas

1 can (15.8 ounces) BUSH'S BEST Blackeye Peas, rinsed and drained
1 chopped red bell pepper (can be roasted type in oil)
1 rib celery, finely chopped
1 tablespoon onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon salad oil ( I use extra virgin olive oil )
1 tablespoon vinegar (balsamic)
1 tablespoon mayonnaise (Mircle Whip is my choice)
1 teaspoon dijon mustard (or any good dark whole grain mustard)
1 finely chopped jalapeno pepper (optional)
1/4 teaspoon salt
dash cayenne pepper (optional)
1 small can of Diced tomatos with green chilis (Rotel tomatoes)
1 or 2 drops Tabasco to taste (optional)

Rinse and drain Best Blackeye Peas and diced tomatoes. Add chopped celery, red bell pepper, jalapeno and onion. Combine oil, vinegar, mayonnaise, salt and cayenne. Mix well. Pour over peas. Stir gently. Allow to chill in refrigerator several hours or overnight.

The optional items are just that as I like it with some heat which many can't handle. The Rotel tomatoes are not hot at all even with the chili peppers in it.

Amen to that!!! Ever since I have had salmon sushi style, I can't even stand the smell of it cooked. DAMN that sushi.... actually anything that I have eaten as sushi, I will not eat cooked.

I can't drink buttermilk or eat yogurt - I literally gag. But I love real Southern cornbread, anything fried using buttermilk to make the batter, frozen yogurt, etc., etc., etc. Best pie I ever put in my mouth was Buttermilk Pie, from Country Kitchen west of College Station, Texas, back in the mid-60s.

Joe, your recipie for black eye pea salad sounds really good. I'm going to have to try that one, and soon.

I actually got the original recipe which I've added a bit to for my personal tastes off of a Bush can years ago. The recipe has grown over the years to go from a single tomato to Rotel tomatoes, balsamic replace the red wine vinegar, olive oil replace vegetable oil, celery seed replaced by diced celery and added roasted red peppers to the mix. I also add the optional hot things as I love hot foods.

I can't stand Mushrooms, but when I was younger, we used to get a particular variety of them that...........you know what-never mind...

I can't stand cilantro. I'll deal with it if it's cooked in something though. I love cabbage, spinach, Brussels sprouts, etc.
