Yeah boy, I was a disco freak too. Still like to get down and boogie ooogie ooogie over there in Funkytown, where everyone suffers from Saturday Night Fever! At least in my car, I do shake my groove thing every now and then.
I am happy to admit that I loved the Disco Era, and still like disco music.
Oh, yeah. That was the place to be in the '70s. Loved dancing - still do. Even went to a disco in Italy on a high-school graduation trip. Italian men have (or had) a thing for American girls. Yes, the memories ... oh, yeah, disco! Fun

I did some sneaking into clubs in the late 70's, but in the 80's I was the DJ/MC. I had a great time being a night club DJ. There were some great perks, but if you wanted a night off on the weekend, you had better have a good back up.
The funniest few nights we had were when some bright owner tried to have us do musical chairs for prizes. A had to boot a few before they started, too drunk. The last one we did ended with two ladies going for the last chair and one of them was on the wrong side of the chair, so she pulled it out from the other lady who went right down on her bumm. The crowd started booing, and it took us a minute to stop laughing so we could disqualify the cheater. I can't ever remembering laughing so hard at work.

I think it's safe to say that Disco brought the beginning of the end of my first marriage ;
She Hustled - I didn't !
my buddy ozzy, who was a die-hard dead head, used to call it "the great disco scare of the late seventies".
even though i hated dancing, especially disco, i got into a number of nyc discos when i was in young, around 17 or 18. i remember the limelight, the copa (the old one on e. 60th), the red parrot, the playboy club (a friend's dad had a key), and i even got into st. 54, but that was well past it's heyday.
OMG !
The Copa became a disco ??
Saw some great acts there, The Supremes, Peggy Lee, Tony Bennett, Marvin Gaye, others I can't drag out of my memory right now........... I actually auditioned to fill the "Boy Singer" job once in 1967, but never got past the interview........
"Who's your voice coach ?"
"I don't have a voice coach..."
"Thank you, we'll be in touch!"
my ex was in the chorus line there for a couple of shows........
Next you'll be telling the the Peppermint Lounge (45th St.) went gay..............and the Metropole became a sex club.......
