Hi, Leni - Since my computer got hit with a monster virus that put me out of action for several days this past week I'm assuming that you're trying to tell me something but I'm simply not seeing what it is - don't know if I did something wrong or what. Can you clue me in?

Thanks, Ian

I was simply responding to your earlier comment that men sometimes read the directions. Sorry to hear about the virus trouble.

Thanks, Leni, for bringing me up to the present - I'd totally forgotten that I'd written that. Actually, I was referring to the fact that very infrequently, men will actually stop and ask how to get from wherever they are to wherever they want to go but can't find.
My father would never admit to having asked directions and frankly, neither will I, most of the time!

A word to the wise will hopefully help others who may be making the same mistake that Fallon and I had been making for quite some time. That is, leaving our computer running 24/7, even when we weren't actually using it. Our computer tech told us very emphatically that this is the situation when one can get hit with some of the really nasty virus type stuff like what got us last week! He said that it will come in attached to something we'd never suspect and BAM, suddenly they have control of your system.
He referred to the one that got us as "Scareware" and it took nearly everything we had. All files on the system were caput! Several hundred dollars later, it was a hard lesson but we've sure used it. I do recall seeing someone on the forum mention that they leave their system on all the time and I certainly hope that whoever it is sees this and turns theirs OFF! This Adware thing is especially nasty. It's under the heading of "System Control Cleaner" and is difficult to banish! As I said, we've definitely learned a valuable lesson - unfortunately too late. The tech also advises having more than just one external hard drive to back up all "important" files. Thank goodness, we had at least one and saved all of our picture and document files on it so that's a good thing. He also told us that going with a "free" guardian system like McAfee, which we'd been using through Comcast, our server, is next door to useless but for stuff like what hit us, even Norton may not keep it out. We've now installed the full Norton package (not cheap!) with all kinds of firewalls along with it so hopefully, we've seen the last of the bad guys. It appalls me that there are folks out there who'd go to the trouble of coming up with stuff like that to get at other people's systems like that! Guess I'm pretty naive, huh?

homes - mouse

Originally I'd accidently changed two letters - I think I successfully caught my own mistake!

Thanks, LT -
Well, now I've just used a four-letter word! Last night I did a search for "mouse" and came up empty for some reason - that's why I used it. Oh well, better luck this time!

moles - souse

lousy - lusty

LT, either you kindly let it slide or else both of us missed my mistake with "souse" which was changing two letters instead of one! Sorry about that.
DW caught the error and just wouldn't shut up about it! Time to feed the woman!

Ian

nope ! I missed it ............... either too little coffee or too much !

(Time to feed her ??? to the fish ?)
I'm sorry; that was just rude !

funny, but rude !

Now there's an idea with merit...................but I meant breakfast. She gets owly when she's hungry! Pickin' on husbands (hers and anyone else's in the vicinity) becomes a wonderful release!
