Finishing up the kitchen this week

All that's left is to eliminate the countertop shims and have the all glass back-splash made. It will be a light grey behind 1/4" thick glass. The back-splash has been template'd and is being water-jetted out now, then being sent for tempering, then painting with Glass Coat two part epoxy, and then glued up.

What a light, bright, pretty space, waybomb!!

Nice job!

How many parrots do you have? How old are they?

Beautiful job, WB. Would luv to redo mine. (Only thing I might do differently, is replace the hardware/knobs with round silver/chrome/nickle :hide:) Luv the wine chiller, etc., etc., etc. The glass backsplash will tie it all together. Have seen glass grey/black/white tiled backsplashes on HGTV, & I drooled. Show us a pic when it's all finished. Enjoy your new kitchen. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool kitchen. I like the well thought out utilization of space, and really like the supports for the breakfast bar. I want an institutional faucet, but DW says no. I'm just happy with my granite.

And now that it is dusk, here's some pics with the dimmable changeable color LEDs.

Frodo is the Catalina Macaw (cross between a Scarlet and a Blue&Gold). He's 25 years old and we've had him since he was 9 months old. The Yellow Nape Amazon is Poncho. He is about 30; a neighbor gave him to us after he could no longer care for him.

Awesome Fred. Looks GREAT. Love the LED under cabinet lighting!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing it once the glass is in place. That sounds very interesting. I've never seen one like that.

What brand of LED's did you get? I'll guess you found them on ebay. :yum:

Wonderful kitchen, Fred! I love the colors. Very nice utilization of space, especially the counter that fronts the sink. Many, many hours of great cooking in store for that terrific kitchen, I'm sure.

Yup, ebay! "tubelight" is the seller. I was going to buy here, but at 1/3rd the cost, well, my arm was twisted.

So while I was researching this project, I found this idea.

Now, my problem is we are on the water, and if I went down below the crawl level below to make the spiral staircase wine cellar functional, well, I'd probably also have to install a very high flow sump system to keep water out.

While the guys were installing the granite, I showed them pics, and the young guy said, well, instead of going down, how about making it come up?

Whoaa, I could do that! So, that's the next big thing. I'm going to design a system that has the mechanicals above the crawl floor, I'm going to knock out about a 1 foot deep depression, so I can build a unit that will extend up at least 5 feet above floor level in the kitchen at the push of a button. It will have bottom lighting and a glass door set up that is flush with the floor, unlike the poor execution of the below pics. I figure I'll be able to store about 400 bottles.

Here's how a gray glass backsplash appears, with almost the same granite we have and white cabinets.

Very nice kitchen! I like a light and bright kitchen. My house before this one had white cabinets in the kitchen, and I loved them. Love the dishwasher and the lighting.....I could go on and on and on......
