Dove Shooting

This past weekend I went to eastern Washington for the dove season opener and wasn’t disappointed. I‘ve shot better but I was much younger then. We hunted over harvested wheat stubble, for the most part. The wheat field was surrounded by a vineyard and apple orchard where the doves roost, set myself just inside the grape rows, was able to shoot sitting down, and did quite well. I missed some easy shots and made a couple of nice ones. Tonight I’ll be making dove poppers on the Weber.

The Mo Jo dove decoy works like a charm and even had a kestral attack it twice. The doves wanted to land right beside it. My shotgun is a 1st year Ruger Red Label 20 gauge IC/M and love that gun.
