Picked Anaheim peppers yesterday as an overnight frost was a possibility. They'll get roasted for the chile relleno cassarole posted earlier.

I've got to get pictures of macaroni with meatballs to the woman who is laying out my first ad...so...we've got macaroni with meatballs and 'red gravy' and Red Gravy Signature Garlic Bread...all for the pictures.

Now, if I could just get the computer to recognize the photos on the camera. Having trouble getting last night's pictures off the camera:sad:

Hi Cara - rouladen sounds wonderful. Red cabbage and mashed potatoes - yum! Hope you can get some pictures to show us.

I'm experimenting today. I had some thinly sliced pork steak in the freezer that had partially thawed during a hiccup with our power yesterday. I sliced it into strips, browned it well in EVOO, lots of seasoning and LOTS of paprika. After it was nice and brown, I removed it from the pan. Then, I followed with about two cups of quartered fresh mushrooms, then some diced onions and sliced garlic. I sprinkled flour over the top and deglazed the pan with some red wine vinegar, then added a few cups of beef broth. It smells delicious. I'll cook it in the crockpot all afternoon, add a bit of sour cream before serving, and serve it on parsleyed, buttered noodles. I don't know what it is...Pork Paprikash?

I have company coming. Dinner is simple - nothing new or creative.

Appetizers are a repeat of the Phyllo Tart Appys from this spring. We'll follow with a large salad and Carbonarra that you all helped with. I'm going to incorporate several of your suggestions. Dessert will be the French Silk Pie I just posted in the Dessert challenge.

It is cool and overcast with rain predicted. Perfect weather for a big pot of chili with corn bread and a salad.

It's raining in L.A.! I'm forced to cooking something indoors tonight. The Horror of it all! The Horror...

I picked some more green bell peppers from the garden, so debated between chicken fajitas and chicken cacciatore - cacciatore won! So it's that, over spaghetti, with a salad and garlic bread. btw, we do cacciatore with onions and red and green bell peppers, but no mushrooms, since DH doesn't like them. It's still darn good

Well. Dinner was a bust. Hank collapsed in front of my house while having a cog and now I'm in thwaiting room of the ER waiting to see how he is.

I got so excited when I saw Vera's meatballs that I forgot to post a pic of our dinner. This turned out to be SO good. I'll write the recipe down before I forget what I did. It IS Pork Paprikash - I realized that after I googled. I just didn't have a recipe and made it up as I went along. Served on parsleyed, buttered noodles with a mixed green salad - bleu cheese dressing for me, ranch for Jerry. And we love those little doo-dahs that I sprinkled on top - I have to go buy some more.

Mmmmm Vera and Karen!!

Sage, hope everything turns out for the better.

I had a sliced beef and swiss sandwich at work on wheat bread, added some ranch dressing instead of mayo, dug around in the cupboards back in the rehab kitchen and found some potato chips. I love to raid the kitchen there late at night. LOL!

Pan fried steak topped with onions & sliced mushrooms (sautéed in butter with spices, a splash of Magi seasoning & burgundy wine), buttered steamed cauliflower and salad.
