Oh, my Lord. I would love that. Coffee ice cream is my favorite.
The recipe was so simple.
3 cups cream
1 cup milk
3/4 cup sugar
Pinch of salt
4 egg yolks
1/4 cup instant espresso powder (or instant coffee)
1 tlbs vanilla
Heat the first 4 until sugar is dissolved and mixture is hot.
Use hot liquid to temper the yolks, then add it all back.
Stir over heat until the custard coats the back of the spoon.
Off heat, stir in the coffee and vanilla.
I added 2 tlbs of coffee liqueur at this point.
Chill then freeze.
The liqueur not only adds flavor, but that little bit of alcohol also keeps it from freezing rock hard.
