Boating and cooking

Hello my new friends :)

Heading out on a day trip on a boat (lake boating) I’m looking for suggestions on what to cook that will absolutely drive the other boats bonkers when we are all anchored in a cove.

Last time I was frying onions and bacon for burgers and the nj state police boat came over just to say we were driving them crazy with the amazing smells that wafted across the cove.

It was so much fun we want to repeat ! Any suggestions ?

Well, JPJ, you picked 3 of the best with onion, bacon and burgers! Unless you're going to bake bread or make chocolate chip cookies, do the bacon/onion burgers again.

Thank you Qsis. I have been thinking on this today and starting to lean towards sausage peppers and onions but my buddy did ask me for surf and turf - such decisions ! 😂

I prepare clams on the grill, to a bowl and hit with herbed garlic butter - always a hit. I may need to take an hour or more to slow walk caramelized onions and mushrooms for steaks. Very much looking forward. I appreciate the input !

I’m nearly done with the days projects so will finally have time to go through past posts and get some new ideas for cooking. Cooking for my family / friends is my happy place. Very happy I found this site.

Sounds as if you know your way around a kitchen ... and outdoor grills! Welcome to NCT!

I suspect I’m no different from all of you ….. if I cook it, it’s on my roll ! 😂

I should mention - my family and sphere are for the most part Carnivore’s that prefer rare ! (there are some I must cook for that breaks my heart, but I remain hopeful)

My passion is cooking, wine and the outdoors and of course football !

I don't cook on our current boat but a few years ago we had a houseboat. One of our favs besides burgers was surf and turf. We'd do fillet's and lobster tail with corn on the cob for a side. Always a winner.
We cooked the corn on the grill. Shucked the corn and cooked it bare (no foil) with tarragon on it.

Impressive! I tried to insert the photos full size, but they were huge.
