beef stew!

i've lived on candy, pub-grub, samples & snacks. time to cook a dinner. a good ol' thick beef stew means winter-food to me. not much beats butter-bread & thick stew. um.
 
sure is! that was a sunday dinner so many weekends in my earlier years. my Dad's was too dilute, tho. not my own!
 
Tom came home with stew meat and guess what I made for dinner. Nothing is as good as a good beef stew with a home made bread with lots of butter.
 
someone went shopping & forgot to buy stew meat. my freezer's stuffed, so time to finally look in there. bought plenty of junkfood, yet somehow passed half of 1 of their meat aisles.
 
yeah, suits winter very well.
i usually make my own sans (or w/ minimal) taters, then ladle over smushed potato.

I don't like potatoes in stew or soup either, luvs. I use barley or orzo or rice or noodles (with a few exceptions).

luv barley & pasta. except 4 sushi & risotto, stuffed cabbage,- rice is not on usually on my agenda. maybe if my Dad would have not used so much minute rice.
orzo rocks, being a pasta that is similar to rice, yet there is that component of textural differentiation.

I like to make my own beef stew, also!

I know just exactly what's in it over the canned or frozen stew, if there is such a thing. Usually, I put it over rice or noodles. I don't worry about the veggies because it is packed with them, and I like plenty of veggies! I mainly like doing it because it is practically a one-pot meal! :eating2:
