yeah, suits winter very well.
i usually make my own sans (or w/ minimal) taters, then ladle over smushed potato.
I don't like potatoes in stew or soup either, luvs. I use barley or orzo or rice or noodles (with a few exceptions).

sure is! that was a sunday dinner so many weekends in my earlier years. my Dad's was too dilute, tho. not my own!
