Are you a morning person?

I am now. For years I would sleep as late as possible and stay up half the night.

Now I'm up at 5 or 5:30 (don't call! everyone else is asleep) and in bed by 9 or 9:30.

A big fat no! I might squeak out a "good morning," but that's about it until I've come to life with my coffee. :starbucks:

Yes, I am a morning person. I'm always up by 6am, even on my day off. But I'm also a night person. I rarely go to bed before midnight.

Hmmm, well, I voted "no", since I love to sleep late and I enjoy the afternoon and evening a lot more than mornings. Probably because I'm not working.

But, I would much rather work in the early morning and get out late afternoon, than any other shift.

I'm not grouchy in the morning, though.

I love to sleep late, too, but I seem to wake up early now no matter what. I still stay up late though and I prefer the nighttime hours.

I love that time of day about half an hour before the sun rises...it's one of the greatest pleasures in life.

I am definately not in the best of moods when I first wake up :) I try to fake it for the kids sake, but how I miss the days of slumbering away under the blankets until 10am :) I'm always up by 6 these days.

Morning person, most definately!
I'm almost always up by 6, 5:30 on week days. I enjoy the peaceful moments of the morning before the rush and racket of the day starts.

I find it funny that this thread was posted at 7pm but Lefty is a morning person. :yum:

I don't know what to answer. Like Lee I like to get up early to get my work day done so I can do other 'stuff'. I'm up a little after 4 on workdays. My drive to work (1/2 hour) is awesome now as it's dawn at that time. Normally dawn comes an hour after I get to work. So I enjoy this time of year in particular for the morning drive. It's beautiful.

When younger I was always a night owl and I loved sleeping in. I still love sleeping in but I can't sleep in near as long, no matter how late I am up.

So what is a morning person?
Someone who tackles the day and gets all the work done by noon.
Not me.
Is it someone who loves getting up early both on work days and on off days?
Again, not me.
Is it someone who loves early morning walks on the beach?
That's me (whenever I'm at the beach); and early is a relative term. I get to work early. At 6am, while an early morning walk on the beach is anywhere from 6:30 to 9am depending on the prior evenings festivities.

So, what is your definition of an early morning person?

For me, it is sunrise with a hit cuppa and my labs beside me. In good weather, that should be on the patio. In bad weather the couch looking out the picture window.

Even though I get up early, I have to say no.

I get up at 5:30, just to be at work by 8 or 8:30. I NEED that much time to drag myself out the door. It's quiet, no dogs playing, no TV blaring, nobody asking me to do something, no one insisting I pay attention. I go to the computer, drink some coffee, take my shower, return to the computer, drink more coffee, get dressed, more computer..... eventually I hit the road.

Like Doc, I have a beautiful drive in the morning. That helps. But given my druthers, I'd sleep in all morning and stay up all night. The night is mysterious and romantic. It engulfs you safely in its embrace and protects you from all the harsh reality of the day. Night time is for friends, and for dancing, and for lovers.....

I usually wake up about 0430...and get up around 0500 to 0530. First thing is get to the coffee. Enjoy a morning butt on the porch. I then fire up the laptop and do some work...check on e-mails, do some remote work on clients servers.

However, I don't consider myself a morning person..to me a morning person means someone who is social and friendly in the morning, not grumpy and "leave me alone for a while as I wake up". Which is what I'm like. Wife will try to talk to me or ask me something and the most she'll usually get is a grunt as I go try to hide somewhere with my laptop and coffee.

Same here Jim. For years and years, I was nocturnal, and suddenly I'm up with the chickens! On those rare occasions when I am up past 10PM, It throws me off the whole next day!

So, Stonecat, about what time of day DO you become social and friendly???

I love that time of day about half an hour before the sun rises...it's one of the greatest pleasures in life.

most hematophagous beings prefer that time. :thumb:

after 23 years of working both midnight shifts and day shifts within each week, week after week, i'm not sure what "time of day" i consider myself.

although, i used to hate stumbling out of a bar at 5am, to hear the birds chirping as the sun rises. you almost feel like hissing and cursing the sun, like vb's compatriots.

I'm not really either as I only sleep about an average of 4 hours a night. I'm pretty much shot all day long. :whistling:

I am up at 4AM for work. . .I wouldn't say I am not a morning person in the sense I don't like mornings, or are grumpy, BUT I guess I could go either way. I don't dislike mornings, but I love to sleep in until like 7 when I can.
