During the Revaluation the American solder had a very limited food supply. This is a recipe using what a American solder would have had at hand.

tems needed
cotton neck scarf
small apple
cup flower
Dab of butter
pot of boiling water

Cut apple into 4qt cut out seeds and put apple back together. Mix flower with a little water to make a dough. Wrap dough around apple, Lay scarf out flat, smear a dab of butter in center of scarf. Place apple in center of scarf and tie the corners up tight around apple. Place apple in pot of boiling water and boil for 1hr. Take apple out of water untie place in plate and eat.

In the home, other items that would have been on hand would have been used. You can add brown sugar, cinnamon, ect.... to spice up this recipe.

What people called a pudding in the 1700 would be called a dumpling today. And pudding -[as we know pudding] would have been a custard.
