TRUTH !!

A decorative depiction of the head of Medusa is called a Gorgoneion, and it has been used since ancient times in apotropaic arts and crafts, that is, art or jewellery meant to ward off the evil eye or to keep away other misfortune. In Sicily's flag, the Gorgoneion is surrounded by three legs in a spiral called a triskelion, together making a symbol found on silver coins minted in Syracuse, Sicily, in the 4th century BC. Some believe that the three legs represent the three edges of Sicily (Pachino, Peloro, and Lilibeo), but the symbol originates in Asia and signifies the infinite cyclicality of time. A pair of wings were added in 1848 and three ears of wheat in the 1940s as Sicily was once famous for its fertile crops, and a close look reveals that Medusa's hair is not actually made of snakes but of thorns of wheat. Time, wheat, an ancient charm, and mistrust of fate: what could be more Sicilian?
