dinner august 24, 2010

I was just thinking maybe I'd make the Rotel, sausage, cheese and rice dish.
But laziness may win over today, and it could be a Marie Callender's beef pot pie, with a hole poked in the center and topped with sweet chili sauce.

An oldie but goodie...
A near-forgotten classic!!

TUNA NOODLE CASSEROLE!
(Our secret ingredients are pickle juice and lemon pepper.. what's yours? :) )

I'm not sure about dinner yet... I'm working today and tomorrow so maybe just some eggs and toast. Easy is good. ;)

easy comfort food: creamy mac and cheese with smoke sausage and peas. Using the boxed whole grain Velveeta stuff. Yes, I know how to make it. But, I don't feel like it.

Decided on smothered pork chops with smashed red potatoes and mustard greens.. Pics to follow...

Since it IS a woman's prerogative, my ailing wife has decided that the curative powers of fried chicken, mashed taters and a salad are required tonight instead of tuna casserole. So it shall be!

Tentitve plans are pan fried smoked ham steak, turnip greens (frozen with turnip pieces) fried in ham drippings, baby red & yukon potatoes or sweet potato (whichever needs to be used the most), steamed broccoli, cauliflower & carrots.

Dinner....

Lovely Mama! The mash and gravy are driving me nuts! lol
I had my beef pie with chili sauce, but I ain't posting a pic of it here :-)

I've got a veal steak..probably baked potatoes and sugar snap peas.

I think it's time for cocktails, too...

The downstairs renters just moved out:clap::clap::clap: and took their yard pooping dog with them:clap::clap::clap:. So, naturally, I just ordered a brand new honey coloured wicker patio set with a cranberry coloured umbrella and victorian seat cushions.

Someone else will move in, but the plan is to have established seniorority and territory by the time they move in.:whistling::brows:

That does look delicious, Mama!

I've been going the easy route lately on dinners. I need to get back in the planning and cooking groove. Not tonight though , we're probably having buffalo wings.

OH MAMA!! Yummy!! Are those turnip greens and meatloaf? I ask because we had turnip greens tonight.

Dinner: Pan fried smoked ham steak, turnip greens (frozen with turnip pieces) fried in ham drippings, butter & spices, baby Red & Yukon potatoes (boiled, drained then smashed and tossed with butter & parsley), steamed broccoli, cauliflower & carrots.

Toasting some left over pizza I made the other day. I'm having beer and salad with that. ....out in the patio around 9pm

i grilled some plain boneless chicken breasts, bbq sauced chicken legs, and a coil of sweet luganiga.

i also made a salad of roma tomatoes, basil, and cucumbers from the garden, drizzled with balsamic vinegar and greek evoo.

side was a nuked spud.

lol, i think i'm being set up, but ok...

we ate at a pretty normal hour, around 6pm. why do you ask? :glare:

i forgot to add that i took a half of and english cuke, sliced it into spears, and put it in leftover store bought pickle brine. i wonder if it will make them taste something like the real thing? :chef:

Just wondering. You work such odd hours I wondered if you had just finished dinner at 11 or 12. Its been so rainy I haven't even thought to take the chance of grilling my luck it would start pouring!! It said t-storms for today.

i'm doing midnight shifts for the next two weeks, so life is upside down.

i had eggs, canadian bacon, and home fries at 3am this morning, then had tostitos scoops and habanero/mango salsa at 8am, then leftover pizza at 10am.

i slept until 2, then got the oil changed and picked up our monthly supply of water (our tap water sucks), and started dinner at 5pm.

and now i'm back at work, craving chinese food. :bonk:
