Whats on your plate 8/17/10?

lilbopeep

🌹 Still trying to get it right.
I have bone in rib eye steaks (on sale $3.99 lb) & corn on the cob. Left over sesame noodles, bean salad, tomato salad and 1/2 a cauliflower (uncooked) that may also make an appearance on the plate.

Any plans yet?

I've gots some chicken breasts thawing in the fridge, but I don't know yet what I am gonna do with them. Want something spicy though. :)

I picked up some pork chops from the farmer's market the other day..

Doing grilled and sauce baked pork chops with grits and sauteed zucchini.

I'm thinking of putting a carrot cake in the oven after reading all the posts on carrot cake!

Continuing last night's idea... a Banh Mi.. Vietnamese style sub!
Either lemongrass pepper pork or something with steak, since it is on sale...

Well...since we've had bear the last two nights I guess I'd better think of something different. I'm in the mood for seafood so maybe steamer clams and mussels ;) yep, that sounds good. French bread too and watermelon for dessert.

another double shift for me. i've got 3 this week.

i think i'll have a reuben from the parkway diner on the way home at midnight-ish, though.

yeah, that's a possibility too since they're open until 1am. if i do, it''s be sausage, hot peppers, no onions, parm, extra sauce. :chef:

btw, just a heads up. the elmwood park police are setting up dwi and inspection road blocks at the light just before pizzatowne on 46 every weekend through the end of the summer. even if you're not a drinker, it's still a pain to wait 15 minutes to get through.

Barbecued Shrimp over Jasmine rice with baby lima beans.

grilling burgers, will have mine with bleu cheese. whipped up some "baked" beans.. can of beans (gr. northern), didn't have brown sugar or molasses, so used some white sugar, and pancake syrup. Squirts of catsup, mustard, barbeque sauce. some dried onion, and leftover bacon grease from b'fast.

Looks beautiful as always, Mama!!

While I was at the Crescent City Farmer's Market today I picked up half a dozen blue crabs....which became crab bisque. Thank you Lou for pulling all the meat out of the shells while I was at Michaels!!:whistling::whistling:

Pork chops are slow cooking in a homemade bbq sauce. The grits turned into mashed potatoes, and are boiling right now. I'm saving the grits for Saturday night, instead. Picked up some minute steaks at the farmer's market, as well. I'll make grillades with them.

The carrot cake came out beautifully.

I'm also drinking bourbon - Hirsch small batch reserve.

Bone in rib eye steaks (on sale $3.99 lb) done on the cast iron stovetop grill (I split this steak with daughter). Sides were (mostly veggies) ½ a corn on the cob steamed and steamed cauliflower and left over sesame noodles, bean salad, and tomato salad from last night.

Delicious looking meals lining up so far. I think I picked up the same $3.99 bone-in ribeye last week as you did lilbopeep.

I picked up a nice chunk of tri-tip on sale at $2.77/lb the other day and it's been sitting in my fridge unfrozen since. I think I'm going to grill it tonight.

Thank you FooD. I never see Tri-Tip, Hanger or Flat Iron steaks when I go shopping!!

Ended up going with Chicken Piccata. I had some mushrooms that I had to use or lose, so I tossed those in there too. I served it with some buttered pasta with some of the sauce from the chicken mixed in.

I've never tried that mhend...in fact, I've never tried capers...but that picture makes me want to try it!

Nice looking dinners, mhend, peeps and Mama! Beautiful steak, peeps - I guess I'll have to get out my stovetop cast iron grill. DH shared his stomach ailment with me (muchas gracias), so I had scrambled eggs and he had (his choice) Top Ramen. No cooking today - hope we are both better tomorrow.

really nice, mama. :chef:

mhend, i often add mushrooms to my picatta just because it sort of fills it out more, and we really like shrooms. looks great, btw.

peeps, even though i had it last night, i'm craving your steak! was it from the a&p or shoprite? i'll need to hit the store before the sale is over.
