Thought I'd start a new thread for us to post things that people say that bug us.

I have SO many!

One of my recent hated expressions is the hackneyed, idiotic, "It is what it is".

Makes my skin crawl.

I think the people that say it think they are being very wise, and philosophical, but it's seems trite, without any thought, and even defeatist to me.

Okay, thank you for letting me get that out.

What expressions do you hate? And if I say your hated expressions, I promise I won't be mad at you if you post that you hate them. :D

it means the same fing thing as regardless. People trying to sound smart pisses me off.

Which reminds me .... "I have a quick question".

Dealing with the public, I hear this all the time. Fact: there is no such thing as "quick question" when that phrase comes out of a person's mouth. If it was a quick question, they would have just asked the damn question, without preface.

The ever do phony but "polite", "Let's do lunch" when both parties know it will never happen. Variation: "Let's meet for coffee or drinks".
 
"I'm 5 minutes away, don't leave without me!"(20 minutes passes...)

"I forgot my wallet at home."
 
Phoney "Have a nice day"

One that some of the kids at school use - "I knew that" when they patently did not.
 
"Cold enough for you? Hot enough for you?"

Don't ask me about the weather if you have nothing else to say.

"How are you?"

Don't ask unless you REALLY want to know, I have no time for small talk. LOL!!!

Oh my.. I've used that expression a time or two myself, Lee.
Why? because... if you're speaking to idiots who just can't seem to grasp what you really mean.. if they persist with arguing, it's best to say It Is What It Is.
Usually, they go off scratching their numb skulls wondering what the hell you meant.
I like it when that happens.:yum::wink:

No Problem from someone doing their job.

I've been known to come back with 'How nice your doing your job isn't a problem for you', or thereabouts.
