I'm a bit late into this thread... (Hey, it's normal for me!) but it sounds like a request for yeast ranching.

It's a tactic uses by a lot of brewers, to store quantites of viable yeast for use later. Over time, they yeast will still either:
1) mutate (Can be good, can be bad. Either way, it's no longer the same)
2) Autolyze and die (Autolysis can leave off flavors in beer, and dead yeast isn't any good for brewing or baking. For the most part.)

I wanted to raise some yeast but the cost of college is too much. Plus when they move out its just too damn stressful.
