Since I last visited, an obnoxious cousin and his wife moved in to my dad's house where I was taking care of him. He caused sooooooooo many problems it has been heck up in here. :bonk: My dad passed away in February and during dad's long illness this cousin continued to make life as unpleasant as possible while I grieved. Police had to escort them OUT of my house for threatening me,:yum: and attornies had to be brought in to keep this cousin from doing a squat in along with his thievery. While dad was sick, this ass had his name put on the title to 3 of dad's vehicles when dad had him register the vehicles! This was all in his preparation to lay claim to the house!:bounce: But finally both he, his stank wife, his huge rottweiler, and ALL of his stuff are now gone, the locks have all been changed, and life is good again.:brows:

My evil cousin has finally got ALL of his stuff out of MY house!!!!

And I have been a very busy Leo!

I have been sewing/decorating every inch of my spacious raised ranch house on almost an acre corner lot -- on a beer budget. When I finish I will take photos for you.

By the end of summer I expect to be mostly finished.:whistling:

Lately I have been focusing on the back porch and the gardens. I have planted 22 roses [hybrid teas, climbers, floribundas, knockouts, and grandifloras]. Saturday, I plan to buy another 10 roses! I have always wanted a rose garden. I mixed them with shasta daisies and forget me nots.

I put up lattice work to shade the back porch [the trellises will hold sweet peas & climbing roses]. I found two narrow antique benches and sewed cushions & pillows in outdoor bright colored fabrics.

I set up a small tub water garden with pink miniature waterlilies and a few black crappie. I ordered lots of apple, peach, cherry, plum, pear, crabapple, walnut, & pecan trees [twigs actually]. I am setting up raised beds of railroad ties and telephone poles for my vegetable garden. I am starting a herb garden. I planted god knows how many containers of annual flowers. I am putting up metal fence post and woven wire fencing to hold the 3 grapevines I bought. I am planting alpine strawberries in the wooded area south of the house along with the established daylilies. I put in solar panel walk lights along the back parking area and walkway.

And I still have tons of projects left to start and complete. I still have to move unwanted furnishings out, and my furniture which is in storage in. I will be doing this moving bit by bit over the summer. There is a lot of new curtain rods to hang, sewing to do, and general stuff.

Also, I promised the nursing home to resume my cooking/baking classes every other Wednesday. Then, my church wants me to help them equip the church kitchen. I am supposed to go to the YMCA twice a week for exercise. And my black arabian mare Lady Ashen wants some attention this summer.

So.......forgive me for not being around much this summer. Hopefully by winter things will have calmed down a little around here. I will check in as often as I can. Thanks for your tolerance and support.

Leo - I went through similar things with my mom.

I am sorry you had to go through it and glad that you persevered and did the right thing. Congratulations on your house coming together.

Good job LL. That is exteremly trying when a relative pulls that crap on a sick parent. Taking advantage to the hilt. At least you nipped it in the bud. I've seen these types of situations drag on for years. End up in court battles and get nothing but ugly. A no win situation for sure.

I bet your garden has brought you solace during all this. It sure sounds beautiful. I look forward to pics when you finish up and have time to share them.
All the best. :thumb: :D

First off, LL, my condolences on the loss of your dad. That in itself is so hard. And then to have "loved ones" act like vultures - it's almost too much. I'm really sorry and I hope it's all over now. Take care and check back in whenever you can.

Hi Leo. I'm very sorry for your loss. I was devastated when I lost my dad so I know something of how you feel. I've never gone through anything like your experience with your relatives but I know enough about you that staying strong and handling the situation is very much in character. Congratulations for that. Welcome back and participate when you can.

Thanks so much for the support! God bless you guys. It is wonderful to feel loved and appreciated. I have been working all day long on cleaning the big garage in back of the house, getting my RR tie raised beds put in place, and arranging for the tuneups needed for all of the garden equipment -- two lawn mowers, a riding mower, and the roto tiller.

I arranged for a lady to renovate the small yellow bungalow cottage, and she will get to live rent free for awhile in exchange. Wow, what a load off my mind! And soon she will be paying rent and the house will start paying for itself instead of bleeding me dry! I know I'm glad I don't have to worry about it anymore.

And I am getting some free help with the heavy work around here too! Thank god, cause the work I'm doing now is killing me.

Tomorrow, I go back to Orschelin's for the rest of the RR and landscaping ties I need, and the grapevine fencing. A friend is gonna finish my raised beds, install a new handle and lock on the garage door, install my motion detector light, and install my solar landscaping lights!

My niece and her boyfriend are gonna plant the roses, and the two peonies I bought tomorrow. I am going to finish the dining room window valances tonight before bed. I have two more to do.

On Monday, a couple of friends are going to help me hang my new decorative curtain rods all over the house. And sometime next week when my trees arrive, they will help me plant them.

Every night I go to bed exhausted and wake up stiff. But it helps me to keep so busy. I will post when I can!

Adding my condolences for the death of your father, Leo. You sure have had your hands full with sad stuff!

But, man, have you been busy! I am exhausted just reading about all the stuff you are doing! It is going to be so beautiful!!!

I think the last time you were on, you were re-connecting with a former love. Is he still in the picture?

Yes Q he is in my life, although not as a boyfriend. He loves me, and I love him but he has another life now. R. is keeping me "on the back burner" because he does want to have a relationship with me one day if possible.

I am not going to sit at home and wait for him. Yes, I am sitting at home, but if someone else comes along then R. may be SOL.

I understand. I'm there, too.

And I, too, am living my life, not waiting.

But I'd rather be living YOUR life of gardening!!!

LOL! I have been waiting 10 years to have a garden again! And I have NEVER had a real rose garden.

I am planting the rose garden of my dreams while I am still able to do the work [ha ha since a lot of work is being done by volunteers].

I guess I am trying to live my dreams now, rather than wait for perfection. I feel happy every time I go outside.
