 Doc, you know how easily I bruise and how tender my feelings are. I cried like a little girl when I read this...

If you cannot do it for me, can't we just think of my dearly departed and saintly Aunt Clara, and call these Sicilian Biscuits?

...'scuse me, I have to get another tissue...

:yum: Soooooo sorry Chico ....my bad.

Since I had not heard of them I thought much like you that they referred to certain folks heritage. Lo and behold I find out from the ladies on Forums forums that these are called whop biscuits or whomp biscuits because to make them you have to whomp them on the counter to open the cardboard tube container they come in. The original poster of there spelled it whop ...where to my way of thinking whomp would be the preferred way to spell it.

All better Chico? :D

Oh, I wish I could have seen the look on your face, though.:yum:

Two things. I don't believe in political correctness. Never did. I think it's a stupid concept. My friends and bloods barb each other with worse epithets just to say "hello." In fact, the name of my sharpening and reselling business is Bada Bing.

Second thing, I'm a Milwaukee mutt. Beer City is one of the few places where "the great melting pot" is a real and positive success. I'm undoubtedly more German and Polish than anything else.

The situation got so ingrained in Milwaukee that many women could not converse with each other when out hanging laundry. So they would converse in a broken hodge-podge of lingo my Dad reports was called Kwatchen. I believe that phrase has Teutonic roots and simply means "to gossip."

I refuse to go along with modern issues for the simple reason that is gives power to the idea and implies my acceptance. Let's get real, if a guy punches me you might arrest him for a "hate crime." But after society sobers up they have to admit that his act was not a "love crime."

No one enjoyed risque and ribald jokes better than my Aunt Clara and my maternal Grandfather (a Harley employee for decades). Somewhere in heaven, the both of them laugh when I tweak senseless issues of convention.

Besides, the biscuits sound tasty...

These sound good too:

Whop Biscuit Taco Cups

1 1/2 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1 (15-oz.) can spicy chili beans, undrained
1 package (1.25 oz) Old El Paso® taco seasoning mix
1/2 cup water
1 can (16.3 oz) Pillsbury® Grands!® refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
1/2 cup shredded lettuce, if desired
1/2 cup chopped tomato, if desired
1/2 cup sour cream, if desired
1/2 cup Old El Paso® Salsa, if desired

DIRECTIONS
1. Heat oven to 375°F. Brown ground beef in large skillet over medium-high heat until thoroughly cooked, stirring frequently. Drain.
2. Add chili beans, taco seasoning mix and water; mix well. Reduce heat to medium; simmer 10 minutes or until ground beef mixture is slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.
3. Meanwhile, spray outside bottom and sides of 8 (6-oz.) custard cups lightly with nonstick cooking spray. Separate dough into 8 biscuits. Roll or pat each biscuit to form 4 1/2-inch round. Place rounds over outside of sprayed cups; press to fit over bottom and part way down sides of cups. Place cups, upside down, in ungreased 15x10x1-inch baking pan.
4. Bake at 375°F. for 14 to 16 minutes or until deep golden brown. Remove pan from oven. Carefully remove biscuit cups from custard cups. Place biscuit cups, right side up, in same baking pan. Spoon beef mixture evenly into each cup.
5. Top with cheese, lettuce, tomato, sour cream and salsa.
